Information

.
A unique shrimp, best known for being the shrimp sold in Ecosphere's. Hawaiian Red shrimp are endemic to the islands of Hawaii. In nature they can be found in tidal pools and lava tubes. A small species, only achieving a size of 1.5cm as adults. Hawaiian Red shrimp are best kept in species only tanks as their size makes them an attractive snack for fish (In fact, Hawaiian Red shrimp are often sold as food for seahorses and other marine animals). These live for many years and are an active species, bringing hours of entertainment to their keepers.

Hawaiian Red shrimp are some of the hardiest shrimp on the planet. They can withstand a wide range of water conditions but are best kept in brackish conditions. Their water must contain some salt. If water conditions are maintained, these will breed for you on average of 4-5 times a year. Though their water requirements can seem challenging, they are an excellent shrimp to learn with as they are accepting of some variation in water parameters.
