I don't use heaters in any of my 25 tanks. It stays warm enough in my house even for angels, cut my bill in half unplugging all heaters and power filters. Now all I run in one around and one dehumidifier works fine been like that a few months now

ctaylor3737 got a reaction from Dervie in What all do Shrimp need to molt successfully?
Def agree you are over thinking it, alot of people tend to worry too much about the small details. If your shrimp are alive and you meet the basic requirements they will molt Breed and multiply. Additives, chemicals are a waste of time they don't have it in the wild no use for it in the tank.Water changes is how you keep the stuff in the water rhey need.

ctaylor3737 got a reaction from Shrimp lady in Breeding for several types of red shrimp...
Would probably suggest skipping the LFS and find a decent strain here, most have breed homegrown strains hardy and pure. Hard to tell where the LFS got them from and how much you'll pay at retail.Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk

ctaylor3737 got a reaction from Shrimple minded in lets talk air pumps
My Alita is more quiet than most cheap air punps, I run 40 sponge filters off it and still have air. I use 1/3 of what it would cost to run them with individual pumps.Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk

ctaylor3737 got a reaction from houdini56 in Wondering about bioload created by shrimp
Just do a cycle, let the tank mature before moving stuff in. Chemicals help some but not as much as time lol. Provide an ammonia source and ride the cycle out. Add a few shrimp and gradually increase it.

ctaylor3737 got a reaction from Wygglz in FS: TB - local
I've shipped Christmas week to California and no issue multiple times. I've shipped around 300 boxes, only lost 2. One was due to customer not giving accurate address. One was actually delayed due to hurricane, shrimp still arrived fine. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk

I can't comment on the rest of your list, but I did buy neon yellows (with the stripe) from Blue Crown and they are beautiful.

ctaylor3737 got a reaction from Soothing Shrimp in Two TDS Pens Reading Differently
Yea most need it eventually, it's almost easier to buy new ones as they are pretty cheap. Don't beat yourself up though trying to figure it out. Go with the lower number and buy one once a year Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk

ctaylor3737 got a reaction from Wygglz in Unwanted shrimp<3
Like everyone says it's who you buy from, I would suggest find someone from here that ships shrimp all the time. Petco etc buys over farmed mass produced shrimp who get tossed around for days before they get wherever they go.Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk

Just heard back from the admin. He said he'd be willing to donate a $20 voucher as incentive.

ctaylor3737 got a reaction from Soothing Shrimp in WTH is speedie
Just seen all the replies, honestly that's why I slowed down on the forums. Market was flooded and wasn't worth the effort to sell. Speedie had a ton invested and was selling out, suprised he left.
It is a pain importing anyways. I was always getting undercutted and barely broke even half the time. Not that I was looking for a profit but it wasn't worth the effort of selling.
It gave me time to focus more on the hobby that I love instead of a business aspect of it.

ctaylor3737 got a reaction from Wygglz in Test strips
I would get a new test kit, if your just keeping neos I would skip even testing for PH, they will breed in tap and will adjust to your water. Just don't try to chemically adjust it as this will cause shrimp deaths.
Read the forums lots of good info and people here to recommend the best routes. Always be open minded as what works for everyone may not necessarily work for you.

ctaylor3737 got a reaction from Wygglz in Sulawesi Shrimps!
Yea the harlequins are a pita, I actually don't do much other than very very small water changes. I've never noticed any bacterial infections. The yellow cheeks actually seem to breed faster than the Cardinals. I never set up a large tank for the shrimp, had every intention but go a few different fish. Got into killis, plecos, rams lol. I keep a pretty diverse groups of things alot of shrimp but also a lot of fish.

Also the aragonite and the LR been working pretty well. I'll probably hit you up for some cardinals soon to add some new blood. Maybe soon if we get decent weather.Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk

My yellow checks actually have done quite well. Have over a 100 of them. And drumroll.......I have successfully bred and maintain harlequins. Started with ten have around 40. Very bad mortality but progress. Another year or two and I'll have a good tank bred shrimp

ctaylor3737 got a reaction from Soothing Shrimp in Want to switch to RO water!
Purewaterclub.com has the cheapest RO systems. DO NOT buy from a lfs as you will pay triple just because it says aquarium use. RO systems are all the same builds, filters etc. In the long run its cheaper to buy a system than buy each gallon from them.

hi, alot of you probably remember me, I use to be on.... Alot, anyway I moved about a month ago and I haven't had very much time in between that and starting school, I haven't even setup my second tank yet because I dont have a place for it in the new house.
All I had left when I moved was a few splotched rilis and wild ghost shrimp, none of which survived the move :'( so all u have is fish at the moment.
