Newbie here! I've enjoyed our planted community tank so much that after adding a bamboo shrimp and some cherries to it, I got the bug to start a shrimp only tank. I have a 20 gal long planted tank with Fire reds and Painted fire reds and hope to add Crystal black shrimp to it soon. I'm really enjoying learning about shrimp keeping, and hope to add more tanks in the future. Might even end up passing the "fever" on to my daughter one day

Thank you everyone! I do have some parva in our community tank, and I like the look of it, and that its slow growing...but I'm looking for something that will get a bit taller. I really appreciate the offer on the parva though! Something that can be a mid to background for my tank (12") tall. Thank you Han, I'll look that one up!

most make their own undergravel filter. the old square ones dont really work great for this type of set up and are not good in planted tanks any way due to plants getting under them and roots clogging them. i did not go for undergravel filter. i didnt add anything other than dechlor either. i started with just tap when  i was cycleing because i didnt see a need to wast all that water running ro just to change it out so much. once it cycled i went to ro and use salty shrimp gh+ to remineralize
