Amyers22 got a reaction from dr0p in Purple Zebra Shrimp
I'm finishing up with my bachelors degree in nursing in December. If by then no one has attempted breeding them I am certainly up for the task! These tiny guys look so awesome!

Amyers22 reacted to Greenteam in Adding new blood to supreme reds
Honestly I can't tell a difference since google gives the same shrimp for all this names PFR, Supreme Red, Sakura Red, High Grade Red.
It's 50 shades of Red.

Amyers22 got a reaction from Johnnydok in Purple Zebra Shrimp
Has anyone successfully bred these tiny guys? They're so beautiful and purple and tiny! I'm really hoping someone has figured out what salinity is needing during the larval stage if any at all.

Amyers22 reacted to Roborep1 in Tank temp for Caridina Shrimp
Think bostoneric posted something about MK cranks the temp like 77+. But his goals are breeding.

You have the right handle on it. 72 ish seems to be ideal. Higher encourages breeding lower encourages lifespan. Depends on your goals. I used to do 72 now I'm higher...forgot maybe 75ish.
I find more activity at the higher temp.

Amyers22 reacted to mayphly in Yeah!!! New Shrimp
Last winter I lost my original fire red colony from an unplugged heater. I was really bummed out. Last week I finaly ordered some more from (Daryl) DETAquarium from whom I purchased my original fire reds a while back. They've been in my tank for 5 days now and are doing great. I love their dark red color. These pics don't even do them justice. He even threw in a berried female. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the babies make it. Here's a few pics of them. I'm keeping them with some of my tibee.

Amyers22 reacted to Soothing Shrimp in Soothing Shrimp's Silly Shrimping
Someone pm';ed me and asked if I could share a pic of my BV project I';m been selective breeding for several years now. I'm happy to say that I'm getting some pretty good results with a couple more shades darker this year.
Here's a pic I just took with the hood light on. I don't do color modifications via photo editor, so what you see is what it pretty much is.
The 2nd pic is with flash:

Here's my best painted Sunshine Shrimp thus far.
Note that you can't even see the saddle. The dark spot is the "guts."

I like the concept. I've had bad luck with some LED lights though with sections burning out.
I use 54w per shelf right now by using florescent bulbs in the generic hoods on my tenners. Problem is, I get hair algae galore because even at 9w per florescent, the light is still too high. The raised LED would stop that, but that means I'd have to spend $$$ to get glass tops to keep evap to a min.. Decisions, decisions....

Amyers22 reacted to RyeGuy411 in What's in your shrimp 'first aid kit' and why?
Excel in my experience is safe for shrimp, most people use it at half strength of the reccomended but I have used it at full strength and higher with all ages of baby shrimp TB and Neo with berried mamas with no issues.

Amyers22 reacted to mayphly in TB From Mischling
Tonight I was checking my Mischling tank which is full of babies and saw this tiny little blue guy swimming through the moss. I can't tell you how excited I was to see this. This is my first TB from my Mischling. Looks like BKK. I've had them for about 2 years and have been looking forward to this for a long time[emoji1][emoji1][emoji1][emoji1]

Amyers22 reacted to Greenteam in Fissiden Package
My Fissiden is growing out of hand again and I need to thin out my tanks.
I'm doing packages so I can clean up the tanks. Have about 3 packages.
I tend to be more on the generous side so portions tend to be more then I list specially when I'm trying to clean out tanks lol.
Each package will be made of:
(Golf ball) Fissidens Fontanus
(1x1) Fissidens Splachnobryoides aka Mini Fissiden
$35 Shipped
In the picture the 2 big pieces in the back are Fontanus and the two small pieces are (left) Mini Fissiden & (right) Geppi. This is just some of it I have tons of the Mini

Amyers22 reacted to sarah in Introducing HAN Shrimp Foods~!!!!!!!!!
I ordered a sample pack a couple weeks ago. So far I have tried the snowflake, nettle, and baby food. Every single one has been a huge hit. I have fed my shrimp a variety of commercial foods in the past, and they barely paid attention at all. What a huge difference! I don't know what Han puts in there, but I can't wait to try the rest. Really fantastic customer service too. Such a pleasure to deal with.
