From what I noticed they sleep up top and when lights come on they jump down to look for food, even the limpets find food on the bare side.
 
Also the amount of snail poop is impressive when you can actually see their mess lol. I don't know if the shrimp are finding food in the snail poop like some breeders speculate, but I do know they go thru that stuff quite often.
 
I'm liking the fact that my substrate is so nice and clean even if I feed snowflake food.

So figured it's time for an update on whats new.
 
First I removed all my UGF since they were making a mess on the bare tank side by always building up little bits of dust that it was sucking up. Now all 3 sections have sponge filters moving the water.
 
Also I have new shrimp in the sections so here's some updated photos.

Like the 15g looks cool with all the little ceramic squares. 

Lol yeah but they're in different sections so they can't breed even if they wanted to.

Finally have some new tenants move in.  OEBT, Carbon Rili, and a single Cherry
 
One thing I have learned so far from a half bare tank is shrimp and snails poop a TON lol. I vacuum up their mess during WC's and 2 days later it's messy again.

If I'm not wrong some dehumidifier use copper coils to cool the humid air into water. So I would be cautious about using it.

Here's a few updates:
Moved my buce's into the tank and some lava rock covered in mini fissiden.
Also added my eheim filtered that is full of nothing but Marine Pure Biofilter Media and EHEIM Substrat Pro Biological Filter Media. It has enough bio media to filter a 200+ gallon tank lol.
Last piece was this item I got from Han called a Choice bubbler. It's pretty sweet makes tons of micro bubbles.

I never had issues with clogging and I put the ADA soil right on the UGF with no net. My planted tank was 3+ years with ADA and UGF never clogged.
 
In college I setup two identical small tanks just one had no UGF(too broke to get 2nd one lol) and when I would do a WC the ADA soil would take longer buffer PH down. But on other tank that had the same setup just UGF added the PH would drop within hours. Same water and same routine only difference was the time it took for ADA soil to do it's thing.

Lol yeah they no longer would pull the same cost per shrimp, but I do always enjoy knowing that the lineage is a good stock. I just know his setup has 3 tanks of PRL from speedie, Max, and some that cost too much for my blood. If I remember correctly one stock cost 2500+

I just placed a line of silicone on the glass and press mesh on it. Got the concept after visiting a friends place and looking at his tanks setup.
 
 
Right now I'm waiting to buy some Benibachi A grade PRL that come from Max stock that friend bought. In another section I really wanted Royals (even after some people told me it might not work in this setup lol). The last section is still up for debate.

Yes I used two 9L bags of ADA Amazonia. First 5 days will be 80-90% WC with weekly 20% WC after that.
 
(this part I do just as added bonus) I also use a bacterial supplement after the 5th day to help kick start the tank. I used Tetra SafeStart in the past, but this time I'm trying Seachem Stability to see how it works out.

I still need to add my Eheim filter that will have intake on far right and output on far left to help with even more flow.
 
At the moment the UGF are rocking out creating a really nice current to keep things going.
 
The 30g tank & the 5g tank under the stand are running on my Alita-15 Air pump that I found on craigslist for $10...... sweet deal on that find

Neo hybrid mix yield different results then Cardinia mix. Neos tend to revert back to wild colors while Card spit out varius results which then can be selected out for specific traits.
It be nice if neos would hybrid better then we could try and make some nice mix since they breed so quickly.

Keep it. Mine did that and after some time it came back strong and turned bright green.

So I just got moved into my new place a slowly settling in. So far I have not had the chance to work on my 30g breeder project, but today I had the day off and try to do the most that I could.
