Something is not right :/ alright I speak the truth lol. I honestly think you should try neos, yeah I know they don't excite you but some really do have nice colors depending on how you raise them. Such as painted fire reds, blue dreams, or you can even try tigers as they are good for people going into taiwan bees such as orange eye blue tiger or even royal blue tigers. It's my opinion and I want to help you, it's important right now to think whether the shrimps lives and your money are important right now, or how much a shrimp excites you and they just die. Just try some species that you can easily raise and start a colony as you are a beginner in the hobby. Then once you have that RO unit boom you can just go right into the caridinia again.

i havent used ada soil cause im afraid (never used it before) just to be sure i used akadama.... its hard to go wrong with akadama

I am definitely a huge fan of simple, keep in mind though simple is always cheap. This is the concept I took in setting up my Taiwan Bee tanks. Taiwan Bees as other shrimp like consistent water parameters, so an active/buffering substrate is a must, and in my eyes RODI is a must. Outside of those two variables it is up to you, my preference is canister filters, I don't use heaters as I have a central A/C/heater therefore I just set the temp for my house and all is well.
 
One piece of advice that I have noticed time and time again, is don't do to much. What do I mean by that? SO many supplements are out there, and the directions for use are sometimes foreign or just seem like to much. So as I said above keep it simple, find 1 or 2 supplements that you can use on occasion. Again shrimp like consistency and when you start adding supplements your not familiar with at larger than suggested doses, this can cause problems quickly.

Welcome! I'm pretty new to this community as well, Joe's Aqua or Han Aquatics are 2 people I've worked with and have had great service and quality. There are many many more people on here though that have excellent stock as well. I would also recommend joining the Shrimps and Plants Auction -USA group on facebook, tons of great shimp going for great prices all the time. You can check down at the bottom of the forum categories and all those people and names are great places to check as well.

It's a saddle which is unfertilized eggs. Or if you mean a stripe on their back which is from head to tail that is a more better quality than ones that don't have that stripe.
