Depending on your filter quality or quality your distiller. You just need to check TDS for both and one with lowest number would be better. 0 is ideal. If both 0 then they are both perfect.

New to it myself. I originally bought the aquarium to house african dwarf frogs. While I was cycling the tank and researching the options for a clean up crew I came across these guys and totally fell in love. Ditched the idea of the frogs and adjusted my setup for a shrimp only tank. I got 11 Taiwan Fire Reds 3 weeks ago and currently have 4 berried females. I'm looking forward to a tank full of little ones and have started plans for a second tank. They are so much fun to watch!

Hmmmmmm.  I wonder if poret foam cut to the bottom floor size and fit at the lowered water surface would stop sloshing.

I've done a ton of reading on this forum this week anf it sounds like a lot of people are using it as a remedy for lots of stuff.

What is the difference between the two? My husband uses distilled water for his cpap machine. Can I use this to do an immediate water change tonight and then get some R/O water for tomorrow?

This weekend, I will be relocating my 10 gallon planted shrimp tank out to the living room and adding my hm filter. Could you help out with a few questions?
1) Should I save the majority of the water to put back into the tank after I have moved it? I will be using the same substrate (pfs), plants, etc.
2) Should I remove the shrimp to a holding tank while doing this?
3) How long should I leave my power sponge filter in there? Would two weeks be enough to get the hm filter going with beneficial bacteria?
