  2. Blue Jelly was a European name for BV. (Neo davidi) Actually they began as the original name of blue fairy shrimp from the breeder in Asia, name changed to blue jelly in Europe, name changed again to blue velvet in America, name changed again to Dark Blue Velvet from me breeding a darker color strain and introducing that, and then who knows what it branched off into then. Pics 2 and 3 look to have traits of splotched carbons, while pic 1 looks to be bp (Neo palmata) or the original color of blue fairy (bv) (Neo davidi). I love histories of where colors came from, but unfortunately much of it is lost.
  3. Be sure to have check valves if the air lines are going downward to the pump.
  4. We're not too strict here, so if you'd like to post your youtube links to make them easier to find, it's fine.
  5. I've thought of that more than once, and then ironing it to stay together.
  6. Saw that Sarah, but a couple drawback for me. I don't really want to add water from one tank to another if I can help it, the handles are not adjustable, and the glass can break.
  7. Yepper. I would prob add a support after 3' though if you want to do a long one. I added some more for you to look at to give you ideas.
  8. Nice thing is it is easy to set up/take down or move if/when needed. Cinder blocks only cost roughly 1.50 ea. Makes it easy to expand or save up money for more too.
  9. Lots of ways to do it. Think of it like legos. I wanted to do it that way here, but my wife was afraid of the kids when young climbing on them.
  10. Are you familiar with using cinder blocks and boards? That may be easiest for you and cheap.
  11. Those mediums will hold about 3g each. Those large will hold 5g each. 4 large x 5g = 20g 20g x 8.5lb = 170 lbs of just water 4 med x 3g = 12g 12g x 8.5lb = 102 lbs of just water Your shelf rack hold 150lbs per shelf of "3 super light duty wire shelves, 4 posts". Not a good rack for you. You'd be better off building from 2x4s.
  12. I love 3d nets, but the white color of the net (or any color of net) is driving me batty. I want a 3D net that is CLEAR! There. I said it. A CLEAR 3D net. One that is invisible underwater so I can see my catch better, and the shrimp run away less. Heck, I'd even use it for fish! Yeah, I know- technique, less running, blah blah blah. I've said that myself many times, and technique does work to a degree. Yet, I still want to see my shrimp in the net, in the water as well. I've given up trying to find one. I'll just make my own I guess. *grumble grumble* Anyone have any creative suggestions of CLEAR micro netting? I thought tulle, but that doesn't come in clear that I can find, and no- white won't do it. Seems weird they can make fishing line in clear, but I can't find micro netting in it.
  13. Kudos to r45t4m4n for showing us this in tank breeder box. Thank you. I'm super intrigued! So, it took me awhile to figure out why they were called BL-1, BL-2, and BL-3. This was especially confusing because the picture is NOT of a BL-2 as labeled, but a BL-3. So, if buying, don't be thrown off by the pic. The number refers to the number of stainless steel screens it has. BL-1 is just stainless steel on the bottom. The sides are all solid. BL-2 has one side stainless steel, and the bottom stainless steel. BL-3 has two sides stainless steel, and the bottom stainless steel. All have a pocket for hose/air stone. -------- I know shrimp graze biofilm and food exuded from algae, so the more solid walls the better. ON the other hand, the more stainless steel, the more (in theory) water flow. Any thoughts about which one may work best for shrimp?
  14. He couldn't redirect with the software unfortunately. So he was able to do the next best thing right now which was to remove the top tab altogether.
  15. I can help with history. Heh Originally we were going to be able to use it for bin or auctions. However the auctions software still is glitchy. I'll see if Will can do a redirect for now to the subforum.
  16. Keep in mind, the 2 free are for doa so you won't be refunded if 2 die in transit.
  17. yep. It's movable too, like a floating mag. http://ivsportal.com/whatpeoplearesaying.html http://aquariumsupplies.marinedepot.com/fish/Magnifying%20Glass
  18. kiwi is sweet, yes? Fruit sugar is known to feed bacteria, so be careful of bacterial blooms.
