  1. YAY! Another Dr Who fan! What did you think of the Dr Who Christmas show 2014?
  2. Who here are Dr. Who Fans? "Moisturize Me!"
  3. LOL Yeah. It's brittle. I'm amused because this is something I never planned and figured I'd better get a pic of it in case it breaks off during a wc or something.
  4. My ph on random checks has been 7+ in those tanks. But like I said, there may be times they swing under.
  5. LOL Just wanted to share one of my sponge filters with riccia growing on it randomly.
  6. Lyana, to tell you the truth I've never checked. I imagine there's some ph swing, but it doesn't affect my neos at all.
  7. *shrugs* I use gh+ for my neos just fine. Have for years. The added plus is if you have cards, you can use the same SS for them as well.
  8. That goes for anyone else looking for a portion. Just pm me.
  9. Someone else contacted me about a portion too, so I can do that. PM me how large of a portion you are looking for.
  10. Malawa Shrimp $1.95 ea (10 for 29.50 shipped) Pic is of Malawa on a 12" leaf. Often they have tiger stripes, and colors can range from reddish-brown, greyish-black, blue, to greenish-clear. [Please don't ask for specific colors since they all have the same genetics.] Keep in mind, to my knowledge no one has bred a color strain of these yet, so the opportunity is there- especially since these will pretty much outbreed cherries any day! Here's another picture taken by Mayphly of one of the various looks. Shipping is a flat $10 to anywhere in the continental US, and covers priority insulated box, and breather bags.
  11. Add a bubbler and it will break the surface film up. It will then disappear.
  12. Ain't it purdy? Little guys with BIG personality! Mexican Orange Crays, aka CPO or Cambarellus patzcuarensis var. Orange are small brightly orange lined dwarf crays that do not eat my plants/mosses. They will eat the occasional small ramshorn snail. I feed snowflake and fish food flake. Currently they are non-sexed and between 1/2" and 3/4." They only grow to about one and a half inches. Some people keep them with shrimp and fish, but I've quickly become fascinated by them, so I keep them in their own tank. They are often used as a clean up crew. Because they are a crayfish, even as small as they are, they are really not picky about params. ShrimpFever has these params listed: pH – 6.0-8.0 gH – 3-25 kH – 1-15 TDS – 100-500 Temperature – 16-26C or 60 – 80F Mine are in Ro remin with SS gh+ to 300TDS. Easy peasy. A reminder to use hiding spots for molting. That's when they are the most vulnerable. A minimum sized tank suggestion would be a 5g with multiple hiding spots for 3. Larger tanks allow more room to be out in the open and observe their behavior. I have several packages available right now. Each package consists of: 3 unsexed Mexican Orange Crays roughly between 1/2" - 1" in length FREE insulated Priority Shipping (continental US) Breather bag to keep them safe during travel ----------------------------------> Just $35
  13. So use the NC for the battery pump, and hook the electromag to keep it open, right? I understand. Pretty clever. Just figured out I could do the whole thing (minus air pump) for ~$10
  14. Something like this? http://www.ebay.com/itm/M3AO-12V-DC-Sucked-Type-Electric-Lifting-Magnet-Electromagnet-Solenoid-5-Styles-/291241492455?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&var=&hash=item43cf587fe7 I figure a 12v adapter could be used to plug into the wall wort.
  15. Yeah. Just thinking there has to be an ubber cheap way of doing this.
  16. Is there something cheaply manufactured that would make things run when turned OFF? My idea- hack into cheap 9v battery air pump(s) to run when electricity goes out. The only way I can figure is when electricity is turned on there's an open circuit, and when off the circuit closes to operate the air pump. Perhaps some kind of solenoid? Some kind of relay? Edit: Made an assumption they were powered by 9v, but I see in a later post there are some on 2 D batteries.
