  1. Rye, you may be correct. I don't know the answer. The one from 2 yrs ago did well into the 6's, and after drying and baking it, storing, and using again is in the low 5's. The two new ones are in the 6's too. I hope they answer you, because I'm thinking perhaps you got a bad batch?
  2. Gee, I have to respectfully disagree with Rye. I have the UPAqua shrimp sand in 3 tenners thus far, and not only is the ph in the 6's, but my TB and crs/cbs are breeding fine. One of my tanks have had the shrimp sand in it for over two years and it still is working well. Having said that, I have heard that it doesn't work for some people, yet I've never had a problem with it. But yea, I use the shrimp sand, and not the soil.
  3. Mine does. I keep eying that every time I go in. I'm just super chicken still to try cutting it!

  5. Go here and leave a message. When he comes back on he'll see it. http://www.shrimpspot.com/index.php?/user/7-h4n/
  6. Han is pretty ingenious. I bet between you and him, he'll come up with something excellent.
  7. H4N will have the mesh you want. Pm him.
  8. Skeleton. You should be pleased my friend. Skeleton tried catching on a while back, but it just was too far ahead of its time. Perhaps now is the right timing. Are you going to breed for it?
  9. Today, Sunday 15, and tomorrow Presidents Day, Petco.com is having $10 off any order over $50. Checkout with promocode: President
  10. Sometimes people like their shrimp tactics to be secret, and throw a curve ball occasionally. By breeding crs and KK, I don't see where yellow would come in- only misch, while Silane's cross makes more sense to me.
  11. I've had cuttle bones in tanks before. Did the snails well, the neos seems to like to munch off it. They can only fix their shells through new growth inside the lip of the shell.
  12. Selecting for BBRR has been the hardest longest running project I have ever attempted. Cull the ones with lighter blue, and keep the darker ones is the simplest way to do it. Unfortunately, I've not noticed very many shades of blue increase as of yet. I tried to get others on the same bandwagon to increase the blue of BBRR in the hobby by offering some of my project shrimp for rock bottom prices, however there just was not much interest.
  13. 80F isn't going to be that good for crs. Are you able to lower it to 70ish?
  14. You'll have a hard time ever getting rid of duckweed fully.
  15. Yepper. It's like any other selective breeding. You find the trait you want, and work toward making those breed true. I think it will be great having a 2nd strain of yellow KK going. It can only increase health with both over time.
  16. You don't want scents or detergent added. You want pure.
  17. +1 IN fact I use a .15cc spoon and just drop it in the water.
  18. baking soda will raise ph. You'll have to keep adding every 2-3 wks though. On the plus side, it's cheap and you don't have to tear your tank down.
  19. Yellow KK is from TT x KK. Don't know if yours have the same genetics, however you have those shrimp in your tank.
  20. IN a 20 you should be able to keep 500-1000 without a problem.
  21. I agree. Any forum with an administrator who openly listens to the members ideas, is bound to be successful!
