  1. You mean like a pitcher filter? We've done cost studies here for pitcher filtered vs RO and found that pitcher cartridges are much more expensive. Other than that, no drawback.
  2. To be honest, it sounds as if you have a high grade chocolate phenotype. :-)
  3. I tried taking a pic, but the flash is burned out on my phone cam. Here's compatible ones in prawns.
  4. It was @Subtletanks91 I remember Miwu sold some in the marketplace at one time.
  5. Double or triple refers to how many fins are red. I'm trying to remember who used to breed these...Triton or AL10? I'll do a quick search...
  6. I seem to remember it can be caused by too much iron? I can't find that info now of course. I ordered all new filters for my RO unit today, just in case something isn't working correctly. Costly, but worth it in the long run.
  7. I have them. They are by far one of my favorite shrimp. If Neos are tanks, Malawa are Missile Silos. LOL They are pretty much good proof. I even had them had them at 35gh one time and they didn't even bat an eye. Are most of yours dark chocolate, too?
  8. I recently came back to shrimping after filming my web series and my neglected red rili tank has a number of shrimp with brown gills. Does anyone know of any treatments, or should I just cull the entire tank? I must have a couple hundred in there now. I've always prided myself on selling healthy shrimp. So either gotta cure 'em or kill the tank off and start over from square one. :-( Thankfully, the starting stock came from another breeder, so I don't have years of project time involved with them.
  9. Nice. What % is breeding true? I may get some from ya.
  10. My understanding is you will have a higher grade cbs with less saturation of color overall.
  11. Mr. F will be doing us all a HUGE favor looking for color genes for neos. We will still have the challenge of people selling phenotypes instead of genotypes, but this will give a much better understanding when crossing "pure bred" neos, and creating new variants. I have a theory that neo colors may reside at different sites, so I find this especially interesting (!)
  12. My strain is Nessie. (Not ready this year due to work and lay offs in breeding.) Challenge you'll have with either strain is the solid painted strain has not bred true yet.
  13. I wasn't aware there was a fw bristleworm? I've only seen info on sw ones.
  14. The nice thing about crs/cbs is they dont turn a brown "wild" coloration like if you mix neos.
  15. Welcome to the family, jovhaln. :-)
  16. Thanks. Honestly though, I don't know if I'd call them superior- just different. :-)
  17. Great to have you as part of our family. :-)
  18. You can add pure ammonia without addatives such as detergents. Sice you said your system can handle 4ppm, don't go above that- and you may even consider below that.
  19. How did you acclimate them? This also may be a case of introducing new bacteria into a system that could not handle it. Rare, but it happens.
  20. Thanks! It's hard to balance passions. :-)
  21. Ain't that the truth! Lol. Shrimping is a fast changing landscape with all the fads of fashion. Lol
