  1. Whoops Louie, I must have been looking at wood near that time. LOL I meant Willow. Clip off a good 1/2" diameter branch with some leaves, and let it sit in the tank for a while. it will grow roots and act like a filter. Never tried it myself, but I've read about people who have had excellent results with that.
  2. I've fed fresh picked without a problem, however blanching allows killing of any bad bacteria and breaking down of cells faster.
  3. Upper right corner is "View New Content." Click on that.
  4. I'll try, but since school starts in the next couple weeks, the kids are getting all the time they can on the good computers. heh
  5. I'd suck at knowing which babies are from who. LOL
  6. In my opinion, TB bred in the states are worth the extra money.
  7. I don't want to hijack subtle's thread, so I did a different thread: http://www.shrimpspot.com/index.php?/topic/1112-attributes-of-a-perfect-shrimp-soil/
  8. What are the attributes of a perfect shrimp soil, if one were to make it from scratch? Bufferring to what ph? No mush? Lasts longer than 6 months? 1 year? Do plant minerals have to be contined, or can they be added with capsules? And how much would you be willing to pay for such a soil? $20 for a 2kg bag? More? Always love to hear American answers to this.
  9. Perhaps I'm the only one, however I'm posative a sythetic soil could be made- maybe with properties much better than organic, such as longer bufferring ability, and no "mush" factor.
  10. Hey! You made it! Great to see you again!
  11. I have a small group of orange rili with blue tissue genetics, so I think I'll pass.
  12. Awesome to have your experience here. What fish do you breed?
  13. Wow. That's a good sized tank for both.
  14. So far the belly sliders all look like fems. I'm hoping they are just slow to mature.
  15. Have you tried manzanita for filtration?
  16. I have four that are actively swimming. 3 fems and a male it looks like. The rest appear to be bellysliders.
  17. The annuals are found in puddles, so I would guess yes. The live bearers such as leasts would definitely do fine that way. -- On an interesting note, I've found the red tail fades or brightens depending on mood.
  18. yeah, but you have expensive shrimp- so you come out ahead in my opinion.
  19. So I just did several calculations here. It really isn't bad if you have just a couple tanks. I have tenners, and have experience right now with SS gh/kh which breaks down to roughly .06 per wc. MK breaks down to roughly .15 per wc. In just a few tanks, the cost isn't much of a difference- plus, liquid is much better in my opinion than powder which tends to clump up or be inaccurate at times. However since I have more than one tank (60+), $173 per year vs $432 per year make a bit of a difference in my budget. Wish I could focus on TB/Pinto tanks and make it all worth it. My temp flux is just too great in my aqua room.
