  1. I think the challenges come when the mods don't have anyone to answer to. Suddenly they take on an unofficial admin role.
  2. Thanks. They are my crown achievement thus far. Man was it tough making this strain! The snails are either pond or bladder snails. I forget which way the whirl is for which kind. LOL
  3. Someday I'll get some TBs. Gotta be set up for it though.
  4. I'll be keeping it ready. heh I hope these shrimp breed well over this year, so I can offer more out to the hobbyists to work with.
  5. Louie, the body is very different from neos, so although mostly red- they still would be shaped differently.
  6. I can just see Dr. Doolittle being injured by crashing into the giant pink snail.
  7. Another lavender king crab found: http://www.grindtv.com/outdoor/nature/post/blue-colored-red-king-crab-caught-nome/
  8. if you are just planning on enjoying them, you don't have to separate them at all. Just enjoy them. Yeah, they may throw a wild or cherry because of different mixed strains, but just cull- or move to a different tank- as you see them. If you are planning on selectively breeding them, separating them would not be a bad idea. How many generations til breeding true is a tricky question. My Nessies took years to breed one general color. My Sapphires bred blue almost immediately, but color intensity has taken years. My Sonics were bred from BV, so I started with a true strain and bred for darkness. That tooo took years, and I still get occasional lighter bv's thrown. So like I said, just depends on your goal. All depends what your goal is. For me selectively breeding, I aim for breeding true for 3 generations.
  9. So it sounds like they bought a bunch of different blues and put them all in the same tank.
  10. Wonder how many generations in would be considered prl?
  11. I'm very excited too. Hopefully I get an even larger red coverage out of some of these babies!
  12. Here she is. In case you can't tell, I'm breeding for red coverage.
  13. Tried tonight and she is hiding in the moss. I'll try again tomorrow.
  14. Never get old having shrimp berried. I just got 5 crs earlier this year and now today one is berried! My up sand has them in roughly 4.6ph (pinpoint may need recalibrated.) Amazingly enough, the moss grows fine, but not a sign of hair algae- even with 12+ hr lights. Me happy camper.
  15. Thanks. Give it 'til tues or wed and we'll try again if it doesn't show.
  16. Wow. Do you use conditioned tap or remin RO? That may make a difference too. (?) I hear what you are saying about pet stores though. I will not buy livestock from petsmart for instance. Almost every fish I have bought from there has had ick.
  17. I can see whole lines of TB being messed up and bred with it, just because of the name alone. Too bad it wasn't just called a yellow taitibee or something.
  18. Opinions differ from different people on using assassins with shrimp.
  19. Countryboy, you and I are in the same boat. heh I bought one type of fish and was sent a dozen of these convicts. Most arrived dead except for 4 that were falling on their sides. After an emergency plop into my tank, they recovered in a day or two. The seller was contacted and reshipped the proper fish, but now I have 4 convicts about 1.5" big in their own tank. I'm keeping them for the time being and see if I have an opposite gender to do a trial breeding with. Everything I have read though says you can't even give these fish away. Like you...we'll see. heh
