  1. Welcome! Good to have you here.
  2. Has anyone tried to keep shrimp in a bare bottom tank?
  3. Ask them nicely for dinner?
  4. Very nice they are easy to tell apart.
  5. Here's Louie's link: http://www.seahorse-nw.com/Mantis_Shrimp.html
  6. Actually brain should be labeled nerve cluster. No brain cells to think with, just instinct. Also no pain, so that's why you see them half eaten somewhere trying to act normally. They really are underwater "bugs", but pretty ones.
  7. The bacteria works both ways. My bacteria here isn't the same you have there, so tolerance is tested.
  8. Thanks guys. heh Still have a ways to go for Sunshines.
  9. Different bacterias from different shrimp colonies will sometimes cause problems.
  10. Until it becomes a problem for some reason, it's fine.
  11. Any suggestions for a good friendly general fish forum?
  12. I'm game. So far the only thang my crs like is the snowflake. Money sent, and thanks for the offer!
  13. +1 Mine were around $100 for a trio, but then again it came from show stock. Add shipping and...yeah...it becomes expensive. But, they are unusual and like Gabor, I like them.
  14. I have albino platinum white guppies. Bought them from a show breeder who won first class AOC Delta at the IFGA. Pd through the nose, but I love 'em! Looks like a wedding dress. heh Crossed some and am adding a project to making a black eyed platinum white guppy line now, also.
  15. Thanks. Okay, you folks are on the list so far.
  16. I'm guessing because the substrate would bring down the ph?
  17. In theory it would work great. I think in actuality it may be problematic. Shrimp move where you don't want them to. So I can totally see babies growing in the media bag, shrimp getting underneath the bag or SS when trying to put it back in, etc. Now, if you were to put the substrate inside a sump, and have a bare bottom tank, it may be effective. (?)
  18. The temp issue is related to bacterial infections. I don't have a lot of options on temperature in my shrimp/fish room so it gets to 84F at times. My crs have been fine, however I'm sure the risk for bacterial infections go up with the temp as well.
  19. Not super expensive. I'm guessing around $20 ea. That's what I've bought new neo vars for previously.
