  1. I've been wanting to do that for quite some time now. A member here even offered to send me some sw shrimp to help get me sterted, but I was not set up for it. I think there's a post here I made on the different colors of sexies I was able to find in pics.
  2. Great to see you again, old friend! Have you tried your hand at any saltwater shrimp?
  3. The real challenge is putting on the little tiny lingerie.
  4. This may be a possible explanation: "That powder is usually a form of food-grade diatomaceous earth. It's a desiccant to keep the bags from sticking to each other and prevents mold and mildew growth in the bag pores which allow gas exchange. Perfectly harmless for aquatic fauna and flora ☺ Diana Lee the Redhead http://floridaorchidendlers.com"
  5. How much are are you using? I dip a bamboo skewer in the tank water, roll it in the powder, tap off any excess, and dip it back in the tank. I do this almost every feeding.
  6. Yes, some display it. However I don't think anyone has bred for a strain of bp to have the red striping prominent. Perhaps a breeding project for ya?
  7. My research has only been on astaxanthin and yellows, however from what I've seen the ntire pigment and tissue turns brownish, not just spots. I think it would be safe to assume that the spots are not caused by astax. Here's some pics of the extinct strain "Kanoko" from a German owner in 2010 named Kenoa: These were bred from a sakura red strain to make the black prevalent. At that time the coloration did not catch on and the line was done away with. In my opinion, this is one of the most beautiful neo strains I have seen.
  8. If the blotchy is black splotches, those well could be the start of a now extinct strain of kanoko. Clear ear patches are pretty common in neos.
  9. Thanks guys. I appreciate the correction. (P.S. The brand is Marfied if anyone is trying to find it.)
  10. What color did they change to, Duff?
  11. Keep in mind some people create pseudo TiBs as well, which will change your results too.
  12. I love vars and mutations. Show some pics, prat!
  13. Unfortunately jled, I could only hit the like button once. LMAO!!!
  14. Scuttlebutt has it that it is Oliver Knott Naturesoil repackaged... http://www.aquadeco.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/NatureSoilOliverKnott-engl.pdf
  15. jled- to find degrees, divide by 17.8 if I remember correctly KH 40 = ~2 GH 140 = ~7-8 I like to keep my neos in 7+ph, but if your neos grew up in 6.8 I don't think that's the challenge. Other params are good. Sounds like a challenge I had when I was first starting years ago. All readings were good, but I'd lose shrimp due to tap things that couldn't be measured. What's worse, it can change at any time. I'm almost willing to bet if you were to switch to remin RO, deaths would stop... Does your tap have chloromine or chlorine?
  16. The question is whether you want to reinvent the entire wheel, when half your invention is already available to start from.
  17. Some very pretty BBRR mixed in there.
