JamesHe got a reaction from shrimpfreak in ADA AS vs Controsoil
it's way better than ADA AS.
I keep BKK, WR, YKK, CWS, PRL with Contrsoil, I never fell how easier it is after I switched over to Controsoil.
now my bee shrimps perform much better than my noes.
for example,
I only need to cycle the tank for 7 days (with pre-seeded fitler). than introduce the new shrimp.
after a month I get berried ones, and around two months I have tons of babies.
Never have headache of high nitrate level.
Only thing I do is 25% weekly water change.

JamesHe got a reaction from Lyana in Red on PRL
Buy from local breeder. you pay less than half of the price for the same quality imported.
You are close to me.
I'm working on high end PRL right now, would be available in this fall.

YKK is not KK at all.
Just name it that way. nothing to do with KK.

JamesHe reacted to RyeGuy411 in Northeast Shrimp Keepers BBQ
With the very successfull northern California shrimp keepers BBQ some of us east coasters were throwing the idea around of meetup on this side of the country. A possible location would be Charlton MA, which happens to be the stomping grounds of the world famous Han Tran! If anyone is in the northeast and would be interested in coming let us know to see if this is something we can get off the ground. This could be a chance to meet and get to know each other and an opportunity to trade and sell equipment, shrimp, plants etc. Food and raffle would be invloved as well. It would be great to meet some more shrimpers in person!

JamesHe reacted to shrimpsf in Suprise mutation from my TB colony
In the black tank I would say less than 5% of babies are red.
In the red tank 0% black.
I just started a Red ruby tank about 50 pieces 2 months ago.
Starting to see little rubys running around.
Red seems harder to come by.
I am pretty sure when the first TBs mutated in Taiwan they were black. Red color may be recessive.

Well, this is it before we put anything in it. I can't get my computer to read my phone right now so I don't have more recent pics but I'll work on it.

JamesHe got a reaction from sarah in Never find molts
If you have big colony, molted shell would be eaten in minutes.

JamesHe got a reaction from nicpapa in What is a King Kong shrimp?
No, KK (Taiwan Bee = TB) is mutation from Golden x CRS/CBS
TiBee = Tiger x Bee

JamesHe got a reaction from Soothing Shrimp in Cloudy Water
Yeap, it's air dissolved into water under high pressure.
Once pressure is gone, it forms tiny bubbles.
-
JamesHe got a reaction from Soothing Shrimp in What is a King Kong shrimp?
No, it's crystal clear that TB (KK) is from golden x CRS.
It was told by the creator of KK. I think I posted in FB earlier with video of interview of creator of KK.
Here is the video:
What ever other people says is not from the source, just their own opinion.
Which B&K do you refer to? I can double check.

Patient waiting...
DO NOT put your hands in water....

JamesHe got a reaction from EricM in Aiming for TBs
Mischling x mischling is bad idea.
Only do mischling x TB male.
otherwise, you ended up with regular CRS/CBS that can't separate from mischling

JamesHe got a reaction from EricM in Big log is it too big for the tank?
Looks ok to me.
I think you can remove it without any problem.

JamesHe got a reaction from EricM in Shrimple shrimping
the dark spot on the pipe wall is just bioflim. no harm.
My shrimp likes to eat it once I knock some off.
Green tube blocks the needed red/blue light for some type of microorganism to grow.
But I still have lots of biofilm on the wall with green Eheim tube.

Other things regarding dose additives, I only dose not more than half of suggested amount. most of cases even less to 1/10.
Less is more. the only problem would be overdose. never have issue with less dose.

JamesHe got a reaction from EricM in Shrimple shrimping
BBA is related to too strong light.
So I only keep needle leaf fern and pellia (tolerance to extreme low light conidtion) in shrimp tank.
Adding frogbit to block some light works too.
I never have BBA issue.

Yes, reduce the GH of new water for water change, 1 degree for a month (4 times). until you use GH3 new water.
No rush on this process, just keep the routine weekly water change.
