That must be it because I found my first baby yesterday! But before this discovery, I found Mama Bear's molt with just 3 eggs on them and thought none of the eggs had survived. I put the 3 remaining eggs in a net and have hung them in front of the spraybar on low flow. Hopefully these eggs aren't duds, and I'll be able to see some eyes in the next few days. I haven't seen the little baby since yesterday, so maybe he's hiding... or dead... or just hiding... This is one of the times where I wish I didn't have such a heavily planted tank. >.<
I know the quality is awful, but I will be getting a better camera soon...ish...
I also want to thank @davesays for sending me a care package full of samples! I've never tried ANY of these in my tank, so I will update as I use them. THANK YOU, DAVE! =)
I've also linked back to here from my YouTube video in the hopes of drawing more shrimp hobbyists to this amazing forum. ^^

A short update: Reproduction continues well in my Sulawesi tank. After the population increased to a good number ( 10 to 35-40 in 4 months) in the tank, I have moved 7-8 Cardinals to another Sulawesi tank to make sure I have got 2 different tanks just in case something goes wrong.

I've dropped off the map yes for some personal reasoning. But I have not left the hobby!!! I'll have some sales coming up soon at the end of this month or beginning of next month my moss is going bezerk.
I hope everyone is doing well I see we have 451 members and still haven't reached over 60 online -.-
Anywho, moss is going crazy in the half bare bottom set up. As well as my Buce getting more established.
My shrimp are growing and I'm seeing unique patterns emerge. No im not sharing these im going to try and breed them for color intensity first next year.

eozen81 reacted to Greenteam in Great Breeders
I figured I share some breeders that contribute to our hobby. Everyone knows the big names MK, Beni, Crimson, Ebiten, etc..
This are the guys some might not know but still note worthy.
so here's some of their work:
From Novina a breeder out of Poland
Caridina cf cantonensis "Prima apilis" (red and black) Photo was edited and the red is actually white.

Tank is cycled, glass is covered in biofilm and PRL are gonna be arriving this weekend. I just added some mineral balls, and I'll add my Benibachi Zero plate the night before they arrive. I'll probably have to lower the light intensity and/or duration as I am still getting some hair algae.

eozen81 reacted to Ron in Ron's 35 Gallon PRL Tank
Hello,
I sold off the majority of my shrimp collection about a year ago and have recently decided to enter the shrimpy waters again slowly.
I am taking a different philosophy on my set ups this time around and spending more on them while keeping less of them. Right now the only ones on my radar are PRL and Aura Blues. I've never kept PRL but with the knowledge sharing of friends, I don't think it'll overly difficult. I haven't kept Aura Blues in years but I believe I remember their care being quite easy.
First off my PRL tank; I custom ordered this at the start of the month and it was finished this past Sunday. It's 24" x 24" x 14" with Starphire glass in the front and sides. The back and bottom are float glass covered with black vinyl and it was mounted on 1/4" black acrylic. There is a 5" Starphire baffle that is 12" from the back. I chose black silicone and the edges were all polished...yes even the baffle.
I used boyu UGF plates which worked out well as it was easy to make the Eheim installation kit work.
I then layered Eheim Substrat Pro on top of the UGF plates and started to layer my substrate. My breeder keeps his PRL at lower pH levels than most, hence why I used ADA Malaya and Amazonia. I know you'll think I am a nut but I sifted all the substrate so my bottom 2" are a larger grain than my top 2". I guess I kind of separated out my own "powder". I did 2 layers of additives within my layer cake using Ebiken Kou, Ebiken Ei and Ebiken Han and one of the layers I added ADA Super Clear. Personally I don't like the layered look so I have Amazonia along the front of the baffle so Amazonia is all you can see from head on.
No flash, tough to see....
Flash, still tough to see....
So time for the filtration; I chose to go Asian style with multiple canisters. I had these guys that weren't being used so why not, it was this or have a sump made. I am using an Eheim 2075 Pro 3 for mechanical and biological filtration and an Eheim 2076 Pro 3e for purely biological filtration.....can you tell I like Eheim .
Originally the Eheim 2075 Pro 3 was only going to be for mechanical filtration but a friend suggested less mechanical and more biological. So there is now 1 level of Eheim Mech, 1 level of filter floss and 2 levels of Eheim Substrat Pro in the first canister. I think I went overboard on the biomedia; there is ~3 L layered in the substrate, 3 L in the first canister and 6 L in the second canister. That's more bio media than I had in my Eheim 2262 that was filtering a 250 gallon stock tank. I'll probably add the majority of my mineral balls to the last basket in the second canister and I was also thinking of adding a Benibcahi zero plate but I might add that to the tank cause I like the look of them.
So here they are daisy chained together; sorry for the crappy pic, it's dark back there so I had to use the flash.
So I filled the tank and ran it over night, I'm expecting the ammonia spikes so I planned to do a few daily complete water changes to get the ammonia to manageable levels before I add bacteria. I got my vials of Prodibio BioDigest and Glas Garten Bacter AE today.
Thanks for looking,
Ron

eozen81 reacted to Odin in Opae Ula tank build in progress! [Photo Heavy]
Hey guys/girls
Decided after months of collecting items for my Opae Ula tank, i will finally put together a build thread as im VERY close to setting it all up and getting the tank cycled!
Here are some of the bits i have gotten so far (click to enlarge!)
Tank Turned up!
Tank unboxed: Hugo Kamishi Simplicity 24"x15"x12" 67 litre
Tank mat to even out the desk it will be sat on
Lid and Lights
Spondge filter
pump to drive the filter, i heard a filter is not required with these shrimps but im stuborn,
Sand: went with Caribsea black sand
Timer for my lights,
Refractometer
Calibration liquid for the refractometer
Salt water test kit
Salt!
Thermometer/sg
Ocean Rock #1
Ocean Rock #2
White sea Fan remains to look pretty
Frag Tray - to attach some Chaetomorpha too and keep suspended
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So i need to pick up my RO water containers and eggcrate for putting under the sand to spread the weight of the ocean rock and pick a few new buckets up! If all goes well i should have some Brackish water mixed up and have my tank setup cycling this weekend,
I have been collecting all these bits for months and im hopeing it will soon all come togther! i will keep you all updated!
Update #1
Purchased the last few bits for my Opae Ula tank today, i belive this is all i need but im sure i have forgot somthing
Heater: not needed through 3/4 of the year but in winter time it drops well below minus figures so this should kick in when needed.
EggCrate: this will get burried under the sand and sit on the tank glass and spread the weight of the sand and rocks rather then it pushing down on one place.
3 x 10 litre buckets: you have all seen these before
suction cups to secure the airline pipe to the wall of the tank inside
3 x 25 litre food grade containers filled with pure RO water
i will only need to change around 25% of the tank every 6 months or so which makes life easier as my tanks going to be in a spare room upstairs.

sponge filters are a must with any shrimp tanks. this should be a standard part of every shrimp tank.

eozen81 reacted to Ron in Ron's 35 Gallon PRL Tank
This should be my last update for a while.
I was originally gonna go simple with my lights and maybe use a Finnex fixture but then I noticed Aqua Illumination was coming out with a new fixture. So I held off for a bit but then I decided to go bigger and buy an Aqua Illumination Hydra 52. I already have 2 of them above my reef tank and I have a controller that I can use to control all three so what the heck.
I picked it up earlier this afternoon and voilà
Not sure if I'll keep the big sponge filter but I am sure the shrimp will appreciate another place to graze.
Thanks for looking,
Ron

I added 5 tibee to the TB tank this evening. Here's a couple of the tibee hanging out with their new tank mates during feeding time. Tonight I fed them a small piece of Omnia Pro which they swarmed on.

37th Day Update:
Shrimps below are added into the tank. I had acclimiated them around 2 hours via drip method and introduced them to my tank near 2 mischlings. Frankly Blue Bolt's colour is not promising now but we will see as it grow up. The reds are really awesome and little guy panda is cute. I hope I will be luck with my pack and will get some babies soon.

eozen81 reacted to mayphly in Mayphly's Pinto Journal
This is where I'll be keeping track of my newest project in hopes of creating some new and exciting pinto shrimp. I'm sure other cool looking shrimp will come out of this project and I'd like to share with you in this shrimping journey!
Tank set up
Soil - Amazonia
Water- Re-mineralized RO
Light - 7g Led low light (beamswork) 20g archaea compact 36W
Filter - double sponge and oversized aqua clear hob
Low light plants and moss.
No co2 or ferts.
My original 11 TB showed up back on March 3, 2014. They were 1x panda, 3 x shadow panda, 2x med/high grade bb and 5 low grad bb.
As of today I have all mentioned above along with ruby red, wine red, red bolt, and bkk. I started selectively breeding female mosura mischlings with random male tb resulting in some mosura shadows.
My TB parameters are
PH-6.0
TDS- 155
GH- 5
KH- 0
Today I am starting to move some of my tb in to a 20L. The 20L has almost identical parameters as the 7g.
I received my tibee on Oct. 29, 2014.
Today I will be moving some selected tibee into my 7g cube Taiwan bee tank in hopes of creating some pintos. The tibee are still to young to breed. Once they grow a bit more I will move them in to a breeder box with selected tb.
The tibee I’m using come from Jaime who has been selectively breeding tibees for some time now.
The two types of tibees I’m using are pseudo tibees (TT x C grade crs) which are 4th or 5th generation. These can range from orange with red stripes to orange with black stripes and a couple of other oddballs.
The other ones are are from the (super tiger x bumblebee) also 4th or 5th generation. This cross is mostly white right now. The mother had a blue-ish green tint on its head. It will be interesting to see how these look grown up.
The parameters for the tibee tank are
PH 6.5
GH 5
KH 0,
TDS 140
Temp 72
