Great Start!! Any specific TBs your planning to keep? Ever have problems with shrimp making it through your HMF?

My yellow cheeks are breeding, they actually have more right now than my cardinals. My harlequins are berried but havent seen any babies yet. -

Hi mate, may I ask for an update for your Sulawesi tank? I have been keeping over 3 months and lucky with reproduction rate fingers crossed. Before getting the babies they were hiding behind the rocks, rood but after the babies they got much used to the thank now I see lots of white hands working up and down in the tank

I think I'm finaly ready for some Sulawesi shrimp. Here are my "stable" parameters
Do these parameters sound about right?
Ph-8.1
TDS- 170
GH- 7
KH- 5
Temps- 82
I've been running this tank for about two months now and have some great algae and biofilm buid up.

I have been wanting Sulawesi shrimps for a long time. So, I thought I would start a journal here and document my efforts in attempting to keep and breed these guys. I’m mainly interested in keeping caridina spinata (yellow cheeks) Here’s what I got going so far
Tank - 20 gallon long
Substrate - Crushed black lava rock
Light - 30” LED 6500K
Heater - Two 50 watt heaters
Filter - Aquaclear 50 loaded with bio media and sponge on inlet
Additives - Bactor AE and Old Sea Mud
Last night I scaped the tank with some large and medium sized lava rocks. I also added some cut up marimo balls throughout the tank and wrapped a couple stones with some. I do have some nice algae (the good kind...lol!!) covered Seriyu stone which I may add to keep the ph up. Since this tank is new I also added stress zyme which adds live bacteria to help with cycling. I’ll be using SS 8.5 and RO water.
Here’s a pic of my set up. The water is a bit cloudy because of the crushed lava rock. It has since cleared up. Now for the hard part.
Waiting.......................

I put painters tape about a inch apart or more on both pieces of glass and on the end where the hinge stops. Put a bead of silicone down the middle and flatten it out with a razor blade. Pull the tape off, let it dry, and that's it. It might not be the most robust hinge type to use, but I've never had issues with them. It's also nice that it doesn't block much light.

I'd recommend a little more space between the levels... makes it a little difficult to mess around in them

Have this on TPT if anyone has seen it before. I have 15-20 Sulawesi Cardinals about two months now.
Equipment, aqua clear 50 sponge intake.
Temp: 83F
PH: 8.5
TDS: 250
RO water with Salty Shrimp 8.5
Marco Rock, Aragonite Substrate
3 rabbit snails
Best thing I have found with these guys is being stable. I do not do water changes, I top off only, with RO. One a month I'll drip in some mixed water to keep the levels up. I do small changes if the TDS goes higher. Always match the water change down to the temperature.
I always drip, the water in also. You will kill some by just pouring the water in, trust me done this before. I also lost 15 of them when my stand collapsed it was awful. I had to do an emergency fill and they didn't make it.
When you get them I took 3 hours to drip acclimate them and didn't lose any. 2 months later I have 2 berried females. Hard to get a pictures they are shy shimp especially to flash.

It is awesome. There is tons to learn for tb on top of care for crystals. Gestation periods. Maturity periods. Genetics. What crosses with what to get what like pintos. Just so much information that could be one spot. I agree this should be stickies and added to when anyone has new info

eozen81 reacted to DETAquarium in How often do you feed your shrimp?
I am just curious "How often do you feed your shrimp a week?". Thought it would be interesting feedback for all of us.
I feed my shrimp once a day Monday-Friday small portions and then let them graze on the weekends.
