  1. When you take more pictures of your shrimp than your family. lol
  2. What type of shrimp is that pictured? Its very nice.
  3. You cant really tell from the picture but the orange is a nice bright almost neon color. I have had a few of these pop up in the last generation.
  4. I have noticed some of my carbon rili are developing orange and red head and tail spots. I think its really cool and wanted to share some pictures. The orange ones especially would make an awesome selective breeding project. Is anyone working on this?
  5. yea i have been keeping these for a few years now and have just decided to sell them all and make room for more Taiwan bees. I have watched them progress towards darker and darker blue vars since i first bought mine. Before the blue velvets all i ever saw was the blue pearl. Now they are pretty much gone like the sky blue velvets will be soon.
  6. The first link is to one of my auctions on ebay. It really caught me off guard when i clicked on that link and a picture of my own shrimp popped up! haha. I have never had a bad experience on ebay buying shrimp. Although you can find better deals from fellow hobbyist on this site. If you have any questions or decide you want to buy please feel free to pm me.
  7. I would just like to add a disclaimer on the mischling shrimp. When i say mixed generation it is possible i have had mischling cross with mischling. I keep four female mischling in my taiwan bee tank then transfer the offspring to another tank before they mature. The buy one get one shrimp come from this tank. If i advertise them as f1 i can guarantee they have at least one taiwan bee parent. These are shrimp that have yet to be transfered and is why they are smaller. Hope this makes sense. Please feel free to ask questions. Thanks

  9. I hope so. But why else would she be missing legs?
  10. I noticed one my tiger shrimp being bullied by other shrimp. On closer inspection i saw she had legs and antennae missing. My heart sank, the dreaded oebt bacterial infection. I quarantined the affected shrimp in a net breeder and started a melafix treatment. All the other shrimp look fine so far. (fingers crossed) What else can i do? Will the infected shrimp survive? Will the entire colony survive?
  11. What an adventure! I would love to see some pictures of the purple shrimp.

i have never had one but that is an amazing fish.
  13. Too late for that! haha I have already spent tons of money on expensive foods with no results. Thats ok though, i like the little fellas and only want the best for them. The shrimp are healthy and active. Food is swarmed within minutes of feeding. I am starting to think i need to introduce some new bloodlines into my colony. Possibly do some culling for size.
  14. I guess it would be a little more than 10% on this tank. Its a 30 gal and i change a five gallon bucket about 1" from the top. Sometimes i will let it go two weeks but not very often.
  15. I first noticed it with my blue velvet shrimp. As time went on they were not growing as large as they used to. At first i thought it had something to do with the fact that the tank and colony was just very old but i have been keeping mischling shrimp in this same tank and they grow normally. Now i have noticed the same problem with my carbon rili. These shrimp are in a tank about six months old with my blue tigers. They are breeding like crazy but do not grow as big as they should. I dont really have any of the large females a normal colony should. I increased my feeding amount as well as food variety with no results. What else could it be? Tank 1 Blue velvet and mischling PH 6.7 TDS 180 Temp 72 Kh 0 Tank 2 Carbon rili and blue tigers Ph 7.2 TDS 220 Temp 72 Kh 1 Both tanks are over filtered and heavily planted with no ammonia or nitrates
  16. I am thinking about trying the up shrimp sand. Does it also work ok for plants?
  17. I like the splotched. The variety is just more interesting for me. I really like the splotched carbon rili when they are blue bodied. The little dot patterns are amazing.
  18. I received some of the mk breed black diamond food today. The shrimp definitely like it. I will keep you all posted as far as color in my blue bolts as well as blue tigers. As long as it is a natural food with minerals that enhance color i think its worth a try anyway.
  19. I kept assasin snails with my cherry shrimp for a year without any problems. The tank was overrun with pond snails and they ate every last one. Not saying i know for sure they dont hurt shrimp but i didnt see it.
  20. Just ordered. Love this site, its nice to have contact with others who have the same obsession with these tiny creatures. I live in a small town in Iowa and if it wasnt for the net and sites like this it would be impossible for people like me to pursue such a hobby. Thanks
  21. Thanks all. I have blue tigers as well and have noticed their color can vary greatly form month to month. I have heard of the bt-9 but not the mk- breed black diamond. I would like to try both and see if it has any effect.
