  1. Welcome to the forum, and welcome back to the hobby!
  2. I have shrimp in a planted community tank, as well, and they are thriving without additional food. Sometimes I throw in an occasional treat, like an algae wafer, or a Borneo Wild Frenzy pad, but they're fine subsisting on what's already in the tank.
  3. GH is a bit low. I have GH 7 in my OEBT tank. Also, breeding slows in my colony during the winter.
  4. Crossocheilus siamensis, Siamese Algae Eaters, will readily eat hair algae as juveniles. They will get large, though, and lose interest in the algae once older and if there's other, tastier foods around. Amano shrimp will help. I kept pulling hair algae out of my dwarf hairgrass carpet until I found the right balance of Excel dosing and lighting time. That, and as Pokeshrimp mentioned above, my carpet filled in and out-competed the algae.
  5. Just responding to the second part of OP's question.
  6. Welcome! Nice tank and cardinals!

With that said, my cherries and fire reds are thriving in this tank. PM if you have any questions. Thanks for looking!
