However, focusing on balance in your light and CO2 levels is best. Limit your photoperiod and increase your CO2 is my recommendation, aside from getting SAEs. Check out Tom Barr.

Crossocheilus siamensis. True Siamese Algae Eater. Try getting a group of three or more younger ones, as they lose much of their interest in eating thread algae a they mature. They will outgrow your tank, so you will need to transfer them to a bigger tank or give them away. Watch out if you have "furry" plants, too, since I caught one eating the slim leaves off my Rotala wallichii.

Bummer about the shrimp, but welcome to the forum! Rolling around during shipping might have done them in. Plenty of good sellers here to replace the ones you lost and then some.

Help! Two deas shrimp in two days!

My experience with Amano shrimp is that they are sensitive to Flourish Excel. I half dose only after water changes, and just spot treat the BBA in my 65-gallon community planted tank. I run CO2 on all the other days.
