manticore reacted to fishcrazy in My shrimps are dying and I found something and have no idea what it is
That was happening to my shrimp when my GH was too low. My GH was around 1. They molt fine around a GH of 4. Also, it may be a calcium issue. You can feed them food that has calcium supplement in it. In many cases GH booster contains Potassium Sulfate, Calcium Sulfate, and Magnesium Sulfate. Test your GH. The crack is a sign of molting problems.

Hi there.. i am working with many (most of them new) mosses.

here i have a question, maybe someone can recognise this, i really do not know what it is but maybe for some of you this would be a regular moss..

i found a moss in my tank (i put there different types some unknown ) that adheres directly by itself, totally naturally to red moor. if you know what it is please let me know also. i am very happy having such a species in that tank....

here i present you 4 species i received from a friend a while ago. they arrived in bad shape (it was very cold outside) now they start to grow... one is a liverworth. (not common aquatic pellia, it is much more robust, hard)..  i consider each of them nice. i only habe tiny amounts of them, i will keep them as long as it takes to develop nicely and only afterwards (hope up untill then to have an identification aso for them) i will start to give some of them...

these are not species that arrived from other collections like some of us know, nothing from europe, but directly from natural source....

very soon i will show you 2 determined species, a fisidens and another fontinalis, not the gracilis...

these are not mine but i just received animals directly from this group... they are in the direction you want also to work.. wanted to show about how far developed the selection in this concept is at this point (march 2015)

personally i find this individuals having the nicest yellow in shrimp world. (i also got some brilliant blue ones (dark intense blue from blue dreams i think ) and i think a pure Blue bolt line, that results only in blue bold descendants. I am very happy today because of these..

IMPORTANT: by saying individuals, i mean shrimps as individuals, not the breeder. sorry if that can be taken mistakenly as something elese

It would make sense to go that way since orange is well represented now.  Whatever way they have gone, they are beautiful.  Thank you for sharing the photos.

i just wanted to show you the selcted group (about 20 individuals) i took out from the initial group.. sorry for the pictures.. at one point i will try to put even better ones... let me know your oppinion... it is a 15 gallon tank with 2 t5 6500 K over it (the same tank where i keep the tropical mosses... so here the pictures,

and the final two is what i intend to breed out again (i know i am not very far from that, that selection was directly related to this group, i did that some years ago)

i have posted some days ago a dark red line i am working with, here some new pictures....

the line is related in ancestry with the royal bloods.. i hope on the long run very dark individuals in purple (lila) will apear again

the light used in the tank is 2700 K that is why images have a yellow touch, otherwise the dark and intense red color woul apear even stronger

it is a liverworth (might be related to pellia genus, i am not sure). i work with mosses have good books, also a former teacher that is PhD in briology. All the 4 species here go grow well underwater and are really totally new to our hobby as far as i know. they come from wildlife in tropical regions.

The liverworth reminds me of the mushrooms you see growing in jungles on the sides of trees
