manticore got a reaction from heatherbee in Fissidens L L
it is the largest octodiceras in our hobby, and it is totally new. it also has no natural sources, because the original population is from an aquarium.

manticore got a reaction from svetilda in Fissidens rivularis "Amaria Taruya"
on the 2 stones in the "valley", as central pieces of the auascape, you can see the Fissidens rivularis Amaria Taruya

manticore got a reaction from TheGlassBox in Fissidens incurvus
So this is the facies of Fissidens virudulus ssp incurvus "Edithae". Close to Miroshaki but about 2-3 mm higher. This is how the stones developed in the last 6 months being permanently submerged.
This species comes from small waterfalls and lives naturally almost in complete darkness. So it is very easy to keep, has not high light requirements, it is also very darkgreen.

manticore got a reaction from Louie in very long stem of flame moss
here picture of it.. it is about 25 cm long, at least 10 inch lenght.
i get this moss from a good friend of mine taht really keeps in best conditions such moss and is letting it growing slowly.
i really like how nice it can get if you leave it alone, and not disturb it.
i also added now some images with the tank in that this moss is kept.
let me please know your opinion on this.. maybe most of you have such nice wild tanks... and i am not one of those as i work more with fissidens genus...

hi there, i told you i will get a second red moss. here it is, with pictures also from natural environment. i do not know at this point how it will behave in tanks.
it has obviously natural red pigment in tissue. and it lives strictly in water.
Kind regards to all shrimpspot members

manticore got a reaction from 35ppt in Fissidens "Ursipede"
sometimes it takes a little longer to show you all these marvelous mosses... but i promised that i ring you 2 new tropical Fissidens species. so here they are: first one Fissidens "Ursipede" (comercial name), seems related to the crassipes line, but it is still different obviously, grows thicker and a little more consistens. Looks really nice. about 20 mm long. it was found in a small stream, living submerged. Water Parameters TDS under 200, temperature 24 degrees Celsius with laterite substrate. So they do like softwater, co2, iron, and have not high light requirements.
At this point the fissidens collection is at over 25 different species, which really also do look different and are mostly larger species ( 2-4 x larger than Miroshaki).
I do thank to my friends for all the work and support we give each other. Kind regards to all! and have a nice weekend!

manticore got a reaction from leonard.banu in Dark sakuras
i have posted some days ago a dark red line i am working with, here some new pictures....
the line is related in ancestry with the royal bloods.. i hope on the long run very dark individuals in purple (lila) will apear again
the light used in the tank is 2700 K that is why images have a yellow touch, otherwise the dark and intense red color woul apear even stronger

Fissidens "Bracteolam"
sometimes it takes a little longer to show you all these marvelous mosses... but i promised that i bring you 2 new tropical Fissidens species. so here they are: the second one is Fissidens "Bracteolam" (commercial name), seems related to the nobilis line, but it is still different obviously. Looks really nice. about 30 mm long. it was found in a small stream, living submerged. Water Parameters TDS under 200, temperature 24 degrees Celsius with laterite substrate. So they do like softwater, co2, iron, and have not high light requirements.

manticore got a reaction from Louie in 78F too high temp for moss?
hi there, it really depends very much of the species we are talking about. regular tropical moss like taiwan and so on do noyt have such a problem. if we are talking about a total different source, you can have in mind that it can be a prolem. as an example a moss called 610 really likes cold water.

manticore got a reaction from tariqkieran in My Fissidens colection
11 Species of fissidens on this image in comparition... some are not determined now that is why i wil not write directly on the image. here the main species from left to right:
Fissidens fox
Fissidens idukki
Fissidens osmundoides (probably)
Fissidens sp
Fissidens rufulus (very seldom/ new to the hobby)
Fissidens rivularis Amaria Taruya (very seldom, there are very few that are keeping it)
Fissidens incurvus
Fissidens bhgamandala
Fissidens fazal
Fisidens sp (will determine it soon)
Fissidens sp (also wil determine it soon, probably bryoides)
i hope you like them all. simply ask if you find some of these interesting and you want to have them. Fissidens invurvus, rivularis and rufulus are really seldom. None of the above species comes from Poland, these have completely different origin.
