manticore got a reaction from h4n in buce what is the fascination with this plant and what makes it so good
Han really has a nice collection of them and a fair pricing. i do recomand to take a look on what he has. it will be the easiest way getting them.
The plants have really exquisite colors, and are more interesting than regular anubias. ones you have them at home you do realise whay they are so apreciated.

manticore reacted to High5's in Mycelia in the Snowflake foods
Mycelium come in spore form so unless there are fungal spores in snowflake there is no way it could just grow from nothing. Mycelium has to be inoculated in the form of spores or mycelium tissue after the spore have incubated. I have grown all types of mushrooms over the years, if grain is exposed to spores and the grain gets wet the spores incubate and start to form mycelium network. This could be naturally occurring during the harvest, storage or manufacturing process of snowflake at some point there has to be spores present or the would be no mycelium.

with october 2015 i will start a master degree in biology specializing directly on mosses. I already have more than 30 species and soon there will be more than 10 fissidens species in my colection. i would kindly cooperate with anyone that has nice fissidens species but also other aquatic mosses, and does not exactly know what he has. simply wirte me and maybe we will find a way to cooperate.

hi there, here the second set of such mosses, i try to picture them all, probably there still are a few that have to be pictured. today i managed also i think another fissidens .. i will uptade that separately after i manage to determine it, i presume thatone should be Fissidens bryoides.
moss no 24 is Sphagnum inundatum, the only peatmoss i know living totally submerged.

manticore reacted to mayphly in Blue cardinal!!!
I also have a blue guy in my tank. He's at breeding age and I've been trying to find him the last couple of days so that I can get him in the breeder box. He knows I'm on the hunt!
Are you going to selectively breed yours?

manticore reacted to phreeflow in Need help with water parameters
I have sapphire blue diamonds, crs, and cbs with eco complete substrate. I've never tested water until now since they've always bred and done well for me. However, I am now looking into Taiwan Bees and the seller was kind enough to refuse selling me any until I get my water right...lol.
So I bought a test kit and the water is gh 7, kh 6, and Tds 180. I'm told I need an active substrate but I want to avoid a major overhaul if possible since all my current shrimp are thriving.
I have an RO machine and the water comes out gh 1, kh 1. I also bought MK Blue Diamond.
What can I do to lower kh and gh a bit without shocking my current shrimp and get it ready for Taiwan Bees? Is this even feasible with Eco complete or must I go with active substrate? Onc I lower parameters, will Sapphire Blue Diamonds struggle?
Please help...thank you
