Stef,
I agree, The 20 gallon long will be just for the CPO's and no fish. The 29 gallon will be for adult shrimp that are 'hybrids' and not concerned about the baby shrimp as far as some getting eaten by small fish.
When I first purchased shrimp about a year ago, I purchased several different types from Soothing. The shrimp are fantastic looking but I mixed them and now have some bland hybrids.
I am certainly not going to cull them since I am no breeder and do like them so going to put the hybrids in the 29 gallon as adults so they are safe from small fish but again not concerned about the babies.
The second batch of shrimp I have purchased from Soothing have all gone in separate tanks .

Doc,
The CRS I got from Will have grown up a lot fairly fast , you will love the white and red on them as they get older . Very pretty shrimp.
-
Subtle,
That is true , I decided eventually put the 3 CPO's in a 20 gallon long which I am giving some time till it cycles and the plants take hold.
The planted 29 high was wasted upper space and going to use that for extra adult shrimp and looking at the celestial pearl danios or smaller fish.

H4n,
I have been to several different countries , never Pakistan and have been shocked by the selection of fish in some countries which you would never suspect would have such a selection and disappointed in other countries which I expected greater selection.
The largest selection which I have ever seen was in 1978 in Panama in an outdoor market when we used those old slate bottom metal frame tanks , who would have thought .

Subtle,
Years ago I had guppies in a 40 gallon long with no cover and bamboo growing out (room was brightly lit) . You do not need heaters here unless you keep tanks in air conditioned room which my fish room is not (shrimp room is) .
The guppies did not jump but their close relatives , endlers , guppy hybrids and assorted danios I have kept are big jumpers .
The other fish I have never kept but looking up your half beaks. I would be inclined to think those would but again I have never kept them.

Doc,
It is the filter intake which I sent him from an extra penguin bio-wheel 150 which is same size as the smaller 100 model . Thus he made what I needed. I am glad that he posted the pic because I am not good at that .

That is certainly going to beat , having to rinse the sponge close to weekly .
-
I imagine you have access to some very interesting native fish .
-
I use the CFL on inside light fixtures but I have some of those 60 watt bright white led bulbs hanging a few inches over a few 20 gallon tanks and fantastic plant growth . I mention that just incase you ever set up smaller tanks .
-
Zul,
How are the pet stores in Pakistan ?
-
Thank you . I am going to look them up.
-
Subtle
I keep assorted cory's and bristlenose and clown plecos outside and they certainly do not jump .
-
subtle,
I do not know what those are ?
-
Very nice set up . How did you attach the rear wood , with silicone ?
-
Soothing,
I am probably going to go with endlers .
Thank you
-
Subtle,
The cory cats I can not because the CPO's would grab them now and than but the endlers are an idea.
Thanks

Doc,
I purchased some CRS from Will and I never look at the PH. I use regular tap water for my weekly water change , Prime and shield and the shrimps are thriving.
I notice many here look at the PH but I wonder how important that actually is ?
It is a heavy planted 20 gallon tank.
The CRS are certainly very pretty . I plan to also get CBS for another tank.
What are your plans for the other tank?
-
I did not know there were African and Asian leaf fish just assumed all were from south America .
-
I have 1 male and 2 female CPO crays in a 29 gallon high tank . The tank has small pvc tubes on the bottom covered with driftwood and anubias which goes half way up the tank.
I have had them for 4 months and have seen them mate but as of now no babies . One female is heavily berried .
I would like some top swimming fish which would not take the baby CPO's (if I ever get any) .
is there such a fish?
I was thinking of zebra danios .
Thank you
-
Very nice looking and unusual .
Did you buy them online ?
Not a fish you see for sale .
Can they be fed fortified crickets ,wonder if they can be bred?
-
Triton,
That was very funny . I agree .
Fed -ex 2 day guaranteed shipping is $15 while USPS $10 can be a week . Twenty years ago , I used too send Scarlet King snakes through the mail . Granted in a box not an envelope hee hee but a larger box with a heavier wooden box inside took about 2 days .
Now the 2 day priority can take a week .
-
Soothing,
Are these shrimps still up for sale ?
-
Funny that you would say that because I sent him today an extra intake I have for penguin 150 filter to see if he could make it for that.
The 100 model which you have is the same intake size .
The penguin 100 and 150 models are popular for shrimp tanks up to 20 gallons . If he is able to make it , I am sure he will sell.
I plan on setting up a few 20 gallon tanks for different types of shrimp I want to house by themselves using the penguin 150 filters and if he can make it for those filters that would be better than a sponge or mesh.

Thanks, That is what I would think but read they can be rather territorial . I see the natural color one's by the marsh's and canals here and have seen several here and there in close proximity but in captivity where they can not get away from each other it is different.
Just placed my order for some CRS!

Doc,
Yes they will eat invisible micro stuff in uncrowded planted tanks . I only feed mine once a week but do 2 water changes a week and use shield which also got from Will. Are ottos safe with baby shrimp?
