  1. $39.99 is what I pay for it at AFA. Basically your paying just for shipping. $8.00 to ship a 9L bag of dirt is not a bad price at all.
  2. Taitibee second generation
  3. I get a wide range of patterns that show up with the taitibee. I wouldn't say there is a "traditional" pattern since their patterns can vary. The hardest color for me to distinguish between taitibee and TB will be a white shrimp. I breed my taitibee in a 7g cube tank which is heavily planted and that makes it difficult finding all the babies. Originally this tank was set up for TB. The taitibee will overpopulate the tank quickly if I don't stay on top of them. A breeder box allows me to easily transfer the shrimp from one tank to another without having to search all over for the babies. Det, looking forward to your pics.

  5. I keep telling myself one of these days.... There are some cool tutorials on YouTube on how to create these
  6. I received several of these guys from Shrimpscales today. USPS kept these guys for 5 days before delivering them to their new home. I'm glad they all made it ok. Thanks Matt!
  7. I used an aura blue x snow white tibee from 6 or 7th generation and a high grade german red pinto. I noticed that only my females have the fishbone pattern.
  8. I'm super excited to share with you guys some info about my latest project. I have managed to cross some of my nicest female aura bee with my German red pintos (from Germany) a few months back. I now have two batches of babies from two different females. The female aura carries the fishbone pattern. However, I don't see it in any of the offspring yet. I do see zebra and spotheads which are showing up in f1. It also appears that one set of babies shows blue as dominent and the other set of babies shows red. I can't wait to see where this project goes. So far there have been 3 batches of babies born since 8/21/15
  9. The majority of my uploads are (3872 x 2592 = 10.04MP , 2,694KB) I don't resize my pics. "I don't always use a flash. But, when I do" I use a Wansen flash trigger with a Godox flash
  10. DET, I'm no expert on genetics but I believe (somebody correct me if I'm wrong) the male's genes would be carried over to the female. The tibee carries the gene for the striping found in pintos which originally comes from the tiger. Once the tibee is crossed with the TB the newly created taitibee now carries the polygenetic traits which gives the pinto patterns (zebra, skunk spots). I was breeding my male TB to my female tibee. My second generation of crossing taitibee with taitibee are now beginning to show pinto patterns along with f1 steel, TB and more taitibee. Have you tried mating your female tibee with several males in a breeding box? Or, are you letting them mate in a tank? I would try placing your female tibee in a breeding box with several males If you haven't already done so. Do you have any pics of your offspring?
  11. Hey DET I'm not sure if you've seen this or not but this site has great tips on settings and how to get the shots you want for your specific camera and lenses http://www.kenrockwell.com/canon/rebel-sl1.htm
  12. As of today I have spotted 5 pintos in my taitibee tank. I have 4 black ones all showing zebra (keyboard) patterns and one red one with keyboard pattern. I'm thinking there maybe belly and spothead patterns but since they're so small it's hard to confirm weather or not they are pinto yet.
  13. Dude!! Those pics are freakin' awesome!!
  14. If you get a chance visit The Aquaforest in San Francisco. It's only 40 miles away from Pleasanton. http://www.adana-usa.com p.s. Bring lots of$$$$

    Ranchu Goldfish

That's awesome! My daughter has been talking about these for months and since she got good grades I promised her I'd get her some. I had no idea they could go for so much money. Lol!!! Let me know if your interested in trading for some shrimp. I have all sorts. Thanks!

    Ranchu Goldfish

Thanks you guys for the input! I'll definitely look into these places. I see that river garden nursery auctions these and other fancy goldfish on their facebook site. That might be the way to go.

    Ranchu Goldfish

Does anyone know where i can find some ranchu goldfish that are reasonably priced? Thanks!
  19. DET, your tanks are looking great! Cool vid!
  20. Here is another little taitibee showing pinto pattern. I really like that this one is a deep dark red color already. There are a few dark solid red shrimp beginning to show in this tank as well. I'll try and get some pics of them.
  21. That's funny. I was comparing the growth rate to my mischling as well. My misch and tibee seem to be the fastest growers for me.
  22. Directions: use small amount several times a day to increase growth rate. Those are the directions. I'm terrible at following directions! I feed a tiny amount once a day to this tank only because there is a ton of shrimp in there and I know it'll all be consumed in a matter of minutes.
  23. yup... I don't know how long it was there for. But they all like to hang out on the HMF foam. I would guess he crawled up the foam and on to the outlet pipe where I'm sure there is a bunch of good food growing. These guys are always going off the deep end...lol!!!
  24. Every now and again these guys will show off their smarts!!
