QT bacterial bloom and spontaneous ammonia with RO water?
mayphly replied to Mamashack's topic in General Discussion
I think the cloudiness is just from the sponge. Your filter should clear things up. Give it 24 hours and see. You want the beneficial bacteria to grow in your filter media anyways.- 6 replies

I received some about three weeks ago in what appears to be in it's emersed state. I have it in my high tech tank and can first now see some tiny bits of new growth.

I got excited when I saw this post. I saw these on aquariumoxygenator.com a couple of years ago and have been wanting a few ever since. They always appear to be "sold out". Will you be carrying the mini?
-
Chef, your right about the low light. I don't use a flash. These shrimp are in a 10g using 10w mini compact bulbs and the room light turned off. The aperture is f/4.5 and shutter speed is 1/60 sec. Glad you like them!

best place to buy bulbs?
mayphly replied to Soothing Shrimp's topic in Filtration, lighting and other equipment
I get replacement bulbs from Aquatraders for pretty cheap. However I didn't see T8 bulbs. -
I'll look into that. Thanks!

Yeah... I tried that and it still wouldn't let me. I kept getting an error message. That was a while ago. I might give it another shot.

Once in a while it won't let me print the label "after" I've paid. Then I have to request for a refund and wait for my money. This happens once in a while,

I also use the $6. Ebay specials and so far so good. They're so cheap I keep a few for back ups just in case.

My oldest heater is an Eheim Jäger which I've had in the same tank for 14 years. No problems with it.

I started out with only a few pandas and blue bolts. Now I have both ruby and wine reds. Forest Gump was right!

Yeah, I read that too. It was advertised as submerged and even gave conditions for water parameters, temps and lighting. It looks like it was grown emersed, I may remove it and throw it in my emersed set up.
-
Is anyone growing these successfully submerged? I just got some and have it currently in one of my tanks. However, I can't find one success story of it growing submerged.

That mischling has some solid color! I would of guessed crs. Nice!
-
I'm hoping this one turns out solid. Although I haven't seen him in the tank lately.
