Pika
But it sure does feel satisfying in the short run to see that BBA turn hot pink and die. Doc, if you do try the bandaid methods, do be careful on the amount of H2O2 you add at once, since it can kill your beneficial bacteria and such as well as the algae. A mL or two at a time in one spot is usually pretty safe. And sometimes turning the filter off *temporarily* for a minute or two before and after can help, since the moving water won't wash it all away from your trouble spot. Theres other options, I've done it myself and have tore down tanks before and later had the same problem. Just giving some ideas on what works for me. Doc4PC2
I did clean everything with a toothbrush, and glass inside all the way around. Sponges and filters I rinsed out in aquarium water, vacuumed the substrate. You name it, I cleaned it and changed about 65% of the water. The tanks looks good now. I think what is happening, is the led light. I raised the light two more inches, and set it to go hour and a half of less daylight. All water parameters are good right now. I keep a journal of everything I do on all of my tanks, on a daily basis, so I can go back and see date, time, what was going on, what I did, changes, etc. Thanks for all of the great advice everyone. ctaylor3737
I actually split mine up into 2 4hr blocks. First is 530-930 second is 4-8. Works greatbdor me. That's times I know I'll be home and in there. Rather than having one long one I give them a break. Been doing this for a long time.
