h4n
Hello Everyone! Finally getting ready to setup my 12L that I've had on my desk for months now. i'm going exclusively use MK Breed products for this tank, beside some Borneowild Minerock that I plan on using as scaped rocks. I also have a bonsai driftwood that will be adding with moss on/in it. Not sure the moss I want to use yet. I'll probably add co2 for the 2-3 month while it cycles and let the plants fill in and then slow reduce it. Specs: Substrate - Brightwell Rio Cafe-XF Extra Fine Particle Size Filter - Aquatop AT-200 canister Lighting - Mr. Aqua led fixture Plants - Moss, anubias, buces and maybe some rarer ferns Substrate comes Monday so i'll add picture as this comes together metageologist, High5's, Duff0712 and 1 other

h4n
So here it is! I started it first thing last night. This might be altered a bit not sure yet. I ended up using 1.5 bags of substrate which are 15lb bags. This stuff has like zero dust! And doesn't crush as easy like ADA Amazonia. So far I love this stuff. It might be a tad lighter then Amazonia but it also got extra fine grain. Which is probably comparable to Amazonia powdered. The bag they pack it in also has a zip lock bags so you can easily save the extras. And I like the cafe brown. Lastly the moss in the bonsai tree is true weeping. Hope it works out good! mayphly
Han, is the "extra fine" the same size as amazonia? I've read nothing but good things about this substrate and the outcomes look nice.
fm1978
I love that tree...I'd love to be able to get hold of one of those myself, looks amazing! May I ask, what is the purpose of the very deep substrate?
h4n
Looks awesome! How are you liking the AquaTop canister filter? Its nice for the price. The flow is fine for this size tank, i wouldn't use it on much bigger. Han, is the "extra fine" the same size as amazonia? I've read nothing but good things about this substrate and the outcomes look nice. Extra fine is probably like between amazonia regular and powder. It like a tad bigger then powder I love that tree...I'd love to be able to get hold of one of those myself, looks amazing! May I ask, what is the purpose of the very deep substrate? thanks! i dont know i always like a bit ticker substrate. i'm gong use plants to so maybe that. longer buffer capacity? h4n
Yes I'll let you guys know about the substrate! Thanks I love the bonsai hopefully the weeping moss grows out.I haven't check the pH/GH yet but I will later today.I quickly check the TDS as I was curious. I filled it all with about RO water and it reads 110 TDS now. I'm assuming that from the MK Z powder and the mineral rocks?
