Shrimple minded
Nice pics Maurice. You're getting better results with your extension tubes than I am. I'm going to PM you and hit you up with some questions about your setup Vpier and Maurice

seaj
What do y'all think of this? They were sold to me as carbon rilis, some of which came with blue toned flesh. One of my females has a patchy rusty stripe down her back. Is she something new, a cull, or sick? I really love the look of eco-complete, but it probably wasn't the best idea to use it with carbon rilis. The tank looks empty most of the time, lol. Shrimple minded
Not to be coy Vpier, but this will do a better job than I would explaining... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Extension_tube Basically just open "rings" (no glass) that move your lens further away from your camera to increase magnification and focus for macro photography. Generally you lose ability to auto-focus (not a big deal for our purpose) but some extension tubes do still allow for AF. They cost around $15, so an easy way to get your feet wet in macro photography. I'm no expert photographer, so I find them pretty challenging to use. The loss of light is one thing, but I find the decreased focal length the biggest issue.

Had the same problem a little while back. Here's my post on it with some useful tips from others: What's going on with my blue rili? http://www.shrimpspot.com/index.php?/topic/6039-What%27s-going-on-with-my-blue-rili%3F I ended up doing a round of tetracycline (4 days) and then 1/2-3/4 dose of melafix each day for a week. I contacted the seller I got these from, and he says he doesn't see it on his own shrimp. He thinks the shrimp might be sick as well. I just did a google image search for carbon rilis, and I found pictures of other shrimp that look like mine, as well as a similar question posted on another forum. http://www.plantedtank.net/forums/88-shrimp-other-invertebrates/388361-normal-carbon-rili.html A lot of the sites are foreign, but it seems like this is a variation of the carbon rili. I've never heard any mention of these before, but I love the idea of a blue fleshed carbon rili with a rusty gold stripe/flecks. I just moved these carbon rilis to this tank with eco-complete from a bare bottom tank, so maybe that's why their colors have shifted. I've noticed it before, but the color never seemed constant, plus, it was hard to track particular shrimp in their old tank. https://www.garnelio.de/gold-back-carbon-rili-neocaridina-davidi-gold-back Looks like there's already a strain of these. http://www.kookarachat.net/index.php?post/2013/06/17/Rili-Carbon http://oddballpets.com/WP/product/freshwater-inverts/carbon-rili-shrimp/ mayphly, Mr. F, shrimpaholich and 2 others
