And I see several other bugs like things in their, are these normal? WelchMout
RyeGuy411
Random critters in a shrimp tank are completly normal. It usually means you have very good water quality. The only two things you dont want is hydra and planaria which does not sound like what you have. I cant see anything in your pictures to maybe ID what you are seeing. aquariumlover10
Ok thanks, the thinks are the white spots and stuff on the glass, I know they aren't hydra, but I don't know about planaria that well
35ppt
I suggest trying a web search to find other people's photos, and compare to what you see.

Soothing Shrimp
No triangle head= no planeria Hard to make out what's on the back wall. Have a better shot?
aquariumlover10
Oh ok, thanks. No, I can't get to the back of the tank so this is the best I can get.
Soothing Shrimp
Use your best judgement by vision then, my friend.
aquariumlover10
Ok, so what do planaria effect? I saw two 1/8" worms on the wall, they didn't look like they had a triangle head but I couldn't be 100% because there so small.
aquariumlover10
I may have some sort of copeod and limpets, but not sure, I may have planaria but they look pure white, I don't know if planaria are like that.
Soothing Shrimp
Planaria come in different colors. If no triangle, no problem. heh Once you see one, you'll know.
aquariumlover10
Ok, thanks, dp they affect the shrimp plants, or what?
Soothing Shrimp
Years ago, when I was first learning about planaria I was told that some people had problems with them and some didn't. I chose to listen to the people that didn't- out of my laziness to do anything with my one tank that was infected, I guess. That quickly changed when they attacked one of my prized project shrimp and devoured her alive. It was then that I learned about and used fenben. Within 3 days all were gone. aquariumlover10
Ok, would antibiotics kill them? Or tea tree oil(bettafix)?
RyeGuy411
From what I have heard Fenbendazole is the best treatment. I bought some and used it in all my tanks with no adverse effects to shrimp of all ages.
metageologist
You need to use fenbendazole. It is the active ingredient in dog dewormer. Or you can but planaria be gone (not sure on the name) do a search on here we discussed at length the method to treat a tank.
aquariumlover10
I can't buy that, you have to be 18+(isn't that the dog dewormer yall are talking about?) if you know of anything else that is a home thing I will definitely try it. metageologist
Can't think of any home remedies except tear the tank down and reset with all new or drop some fish in there. Then sell the fish to buy new shrimp. But seriously you will need to buy that stuff. Can't you just get it off amazon.
aquariumlover10
Ok, I think I will try no planaria first, I may see if I can call my lfs and see if they have it.

But from personal experience as it's mostly shrimp keepers who use it. Most places don't carry it. I think one of our sponsors sells it.
