OMG Aquatics
For those of you who uses this Do you prefer the output above water level or below water level?
Soothing Shrimp
Doesn't really matter, as long as water is moving through it. Above water is quieter, but all mine are below.

Shrimple minded
Follow up questions, -With the above sponge filters, how often do you clean them when driven with an air pump? -How often do you clean them when using canister or HOB filtration? -What does your "cleaning" procedure involve? Dendrobatez
For me cleaning just takes place when flow is reduced using either air or pump driven method. Proceedure is shutting the pump off, taking the sponge off and shaking/squeezing it around in some water from the tank, so usually after a water change I use the water I took out. So in shrimp tanks I don't need to clean them often, endlers tanks it's a weekly affair aquariumlover10
Soothing Shrimp
A tip though, do 1/2 of the double sponges when cleaning, then let bacteria build up again-THEN do the other.a week to 2 weeks later. Dendrobatez
