chibikaie
http://www.aquacave.com/pinpoint-ph-monitor-by-american-marine.html Seems to have the best reviews for that price range. The lower end models had very variable reviews - could be variable quality control or large amounts of human error. SurraGync

OMG Aquatics
I have a pinpoint on my project super red crs tank. What's the point of constant monitoring? Is it going to your computer or just the display thingy?
JamesHe
What's the point of constant monitoring? Is it going to your computer or just the display thingy? None of handhold type is accurate. Even Pinpoint pH monitor, you need calibrate the probe everything couple months.
JamesHe
None of pH monitor is accurate before probe been properly calibrated.

Display thingy. heh I like to have my ph a tad bit higher than my substrate pulls it to. So when the ph drops too far, I adjust ph again. chibikaie
I even have ReefKeeper for my PRL tank. THIS IS ALL YOUR FAULT. I googled that and I want the herp version for my rotten little frog (who hates me and has been on a hunger strike). I need to wrangle a bigger raise. Oh, well. Thanks, everyone! I might be wrong but pretty sure Etekcity is the real manufacture of that product. Also the link u provided states "Calibration: manual,1 point.(not included)" http://www.amazon.com/Etekcity%C2%AE-Accuracy-Measurement-Resolution-Handheld/dp/B00FJFEB2O/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1422807854&sr=8-1&keywords=ph+meter&pebp=1422807916415&peasin=B00FJFEB2O

OMG Aquatics
oh really huh i didnt know that i thought they were authentic Unfortunately, no. On every china wholesale site, 90%+ of the items are counterfeit. Authentic stuff is very expensive.

All handhold type is pretty much un-accurate and useless. Shrimpie
JamesHe
Any pH monitor needed to be able do two points calibration. Single point calibration is just joke.
JamesHe
I use 4.01 and 7.01 all the time. I do it in every three months. 1, Clean, diluted HCl, 30 minutes 2, Restore, Saturated KCl solution, overnight 3, Calibration, 4.01/7.01 reference solution
Shrimple minded
Display thingy. heh I like to have my ph a tad bit higher than my substrate pulls it to. So when the ph drops too far, I adjust ph again. Any reasons you would share as to why you do this? Do you feel that keeping your substrate "working" has an effect on how long the buffering effects last?
Soothing Shrimp
I've used the same substrate off and on for two years, and it still does its job. I like bit higher ph, because breeding seems to do better for me.
Shrimple minded
When you say you "adjust pH again", is this with more remin-RO, or do use other products to accomplish this?
Soothing Shrimp
I use a very tiny bit of baking soda to bring up the ph. Alfrediacag
Shrimpie
I have tried the hand held PH meters - Paid like $100 for one. Thought I kept it calibrated regularly. But it was still way off compared to API liquid test. Finally gave up on PH meters and went back to the liquid test. Easier and much more accurate. chibikaie
It's funny that you say that. The API liquid tests are the entire reason I'm looking into digital meters. Oh well, to each their own! Soothing Shrimp
