julianzh
Anyone has any recommendation for a good but low budget auto topoff system for a shrimp tank? im looking under $120 and not really into diy one. Ron
I think you can get a hydor ATO and a Tom`s Aqua-Lifter for under $120. I just bought a Japanese made one that simply holds a bottle of water upside down with a tube to the water level and drains when the water level allows air in to the tube. Not the prettiest but effective, it was under $20. julianzh
Soothing Shrimp
can you post the link of the Japanese one?
aquariumlover10
You can make one of those with a hamster bottle
Soothing Shrimp
Have a link AL10?
aquariumlover10
No, but take a hamster water bottle, and put airline tubing on the end and then mount it on the wall above the tank and then put the airline where you want the waterline. Ron
can you post the link of the Japanese one? Sorry, got it from jumpsmasher. He orders neat stuff from Asia quite often. I recycled the box already, I`ll ask him to post a pic. Soothing Shrimp
Soothing Shrimp
No, but take a hamster water bottle, and put airline tubing on the end and then mount it on the wall above the tank and then put the airline where you want the waterline. You'd have to take out a ball bearing in the hamster bottle nozzle. aquariumlover10
aquariumlover10
Yeah but if you take the lid off you should be able to get it out, I think.
Soothing Shrimp
A site I like is this. They do some nice custom auto top offs for nanos and larger for relatively cheap if you don't want to build it yourself. aquariumlover10 and eozen81
Ron
A little more expensive but this is what I may use on my next display tank. http://www.autoaqua.com.tw/en/products/automatic.htm EricM

OMG Aquatics
Water bottle idea is pretty cool...
OMG Aquatics
I assume the same concept would work. Instead of placing it like that, I would place it on my lights. I would make a bottle sorta like for hatching bbs except you would need 2 bottles. One to cut and one that is going to be filled with water. Cut one and have it placed like bbs and get a bbs cap then attach tubing and you can pretty much cut tubing to whatever you want water level too? Please excuse my terrible drawing
julianzh
thanks everyone for their suggestions. the hydor ato seem the best option right now since the float switch seem to be a problem if shrimp playing with it. jumpsmasher
This is the japanese one that ROn was talking about: it's callles the NISSO Automatic Water Top-off Holder It is designed to hold a standard 1L plastic bottle Not the prettiest looking device but it does its job. i would say it is more suitable for tanks under 10gal. Soothing Shrimp
Where is one able to buy that, and how much?
jumpsmasher
you can get it on Ratuken http://global.rakuten.com/en/store/fujix/item/4975637527618/?s-id=borderless_browsehist_en Shipping cost is pretty high for 1 unit so you will have to buy a few of them to make it worthwhile - I believe mine worked out to be around $15 cdn on my last order but i got a bunch of different stuff. You can also use the domestic (Japanese) version of Ratuken and ship to a japanese address using Tenso Japan who would re-ship it the US or Canada for a fee Deroyhott and Soothing Shrimp

Ron
Is the water flow rate adjustable? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk On the bottle? No, when the level drops low enough to let air in, water comes out. mayphly
