neilshieh
Looked into my BV tank today and saw this guy... that red line near the swimmerets, is that natural? or is it a parasite of some kind? I know they come from rili's so red headgear and what not popping up is not uncommon... thoughts? sorry for the bad picture
Soothing Shrimp
Occasionally this will pop up in Red Rili, BR and BV. Not sure why. Much more rare in BV though. Much more common in BR.
TheGardenofEder
Where did you get them? I see some red in the shrimp in the very back as well. Chances are you were sold blue rillis as blue velvets.
neilshieh
got them from a member on TPT who says the original stock is from Speedie. these are like the only 2 in the colony with any red on them.
rostick555
Read this thread http://www.plantedtank.net/forums/showthread.php?t=193999&highlight=blue+velvet I too have had lots of red when they are peewees and juvies but the end up turning all blue except for a small percentage of them retain the red into adult hood. That is not a parasite or any deformity it is a normal blue velvet shrimp by my standards
Soothing Shrimp
Yeah, that's where I coined the phrase BVR for the adults that still have the red and lose it later.
