eozen81
Hi guys, I want to consult you a problem about my shrimp. This is the first time I come across a problem like this. It's been over 24 hours and my shrimp is laying by side and moving its legs all the time. I thought at first it is dying but after 24 hours it's still alive. Any idea what can be issue? There are lots of babies and few adults in this tank and they look OK.

Crazyfishlady
Yikes - breaks my heart to watch that. Is there anything that can be done to help the shrimp be able to molt at this point?

shrimpybuisness
Hopefully its not a bacterial infection
Soothing Shrimp
I don't think so, or the shrimp would have lost color Shrimpy.
RyeGuy411
I had a baby shrimp about 1 cm doing that I thought it was a molt issue and poopians recommended I take it and put it in s breeder box so it wouldn't get eaten while still alive. It laid on its side for four days moving its legs then one day it was up grazing like nothing happened. Very strange but it's one tough little shrimp I thought it was dead for sure. I hope yours pulls through!
bima
My shrimp doing that to, i just separate it with other shrimp, next day it was back to normal but the molt unsuccessful, there is some exoskeleton still left at her tail until the next molt. And it still alive
Crazyfishlady
so are all molting issues due to lack of or too much of certain minerals?
eozen81
I don't measure gh friends. I measure only tds and ph. My tds is around 220 microsiemens and ph is 5.4, Do you think I need to separate this into a breeder box ?

Shrimps also eat live shrimp but only when they are dying. eozen81
eozen81
Thank you guys, now I separated my shrimp into the breeding box hoping it will make it, once I try to catch, it incredibly moved fast and it was really hard to catch it. It is still the same for 48 hours, i will update if it's condition changes. RyeGuy411 and Crazyfishlady

eozen81
Unfortunately it's still alive. As I observe it looks to me like it has something with his left legs like he cannot bend them. Not sure but really sorry to watch him like that.
