aquariumlover10
so I a Thinking about trying to selectively breed ghost shrimp to get more red coloration. I'm think about getting this stand http://www.lowes.com/pd_328959-80752-142430B-DS_1z11pf9__?productId=3468765&Ns=p_product_price|0&pl=1&Ntt=shelf and putting 4 large kritter keepers on the bottom, and 4 medium on the middle http://m.petco.com/product/12031/Petco-Pet-Keeper-for-Aquarium-Fish.aspx?CoreCat=OnSiteSearch and using the air pump my grandpa gave me from his converted lobster tank to power a azoo oxygen plus11 in each tank http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?c=3578+3579+3954&pcatid=3954 ill be using the large tanks as culling tanks and general holding tanks. I'll use the mediums as the tank to selectively breed them and to raise the shrimplets. ill be using Java moss and hornwort as plants 2 finnex stingrays, and play sand as a sub for the holding tanks and culling Tanks, no sub in the breeding or raising tanks. this will all be after I move of course, but I think it'll work. stay tuned for links Edwardnah, KlimparOn, MableBile and 1 other
aquariumlover10
I'm on my phone its hard to edit. Here's the light link and the substrate link http://www.amazon.com/Finnex-Stingray-Aquarium-Light-20-Inch/dp/B00NAFQ6FK
Soothing Shrimp
Those mediums will hold about 3g each. Those large will hold 5g each. 4 large x 5g = 20g 20g x 8.5lb = 170 lbs of just water 4 med x 3g = 12g 12g x 8.5lb = 102 lbs of just water Your shelf rack hold 150lbs per shelf of "3 super light duty wire shelves, 4 posts". Not a good rack for you. You'd be better off building from 2x4s. sarah and aquariumlover10

Soothing Shrimp
Are you familiar with using cinder blocks and boards? That may be easiest for you and cheap. High5's
aquariumlover10
sorta, do you have any pics of a stand made like that?
Soothing Shrimp
Lots of ways to do it. Think of it like legos. I wanted to do it that way here, but my wife was afraid of the kids when young climbing on them. aquariumlover10

Soothing Shrimp
Nice thing is it is easy to set up/take down or move if/when needed. Cinder blocks only cost roughly 1.50 ea. Makes it easy to expand or save up money for more too. High5's
aquariumlover10
ok, I think I'll try it like the last one. will plywood with 2x4 supports work for where the tanks sit on?
Soothing Shrimp
Yepper. I would prob add a support after 3' though if you want to do a long one. I added some more for you to look at to give you ideas.

aquariumlover10
i think im going to make a custom tank out of wood, it'll be in my bedroom so i want it too look pretty i will mount finnex stingrays above the tanks for light, on the top its not another level its just a bar to mount the light. the 3g hatching/rearing tanks will be on the top with the 5g cull and holding tanks in the middle. with the air pump(from grandpas converted lobster tank, 120 pounds of pressure) on the bottom along with green water holding tank, and a daphnia breeding tanks. i will use gang valves to split the air line from air pump. Soothing Shrimp
Be sure to have check valves if the air lines are going downward to the pump.
aquariumlover10
I will, I've had water go down my line during a power outage(had a check valve though)
sarah
How loud is the giant air pump? I feel like something like that would keep me up at night if it was in my bedroom. aquariumlover10
