Eckielady
I just got my TDS meter in the mail today. Both tanks are over 200 (One is 201 and 1 is 209). The 209 tank has my CRS in it (). I use all RO water. How in the heck does a person lower TDS?
OMG Aquatics
Check the TDS of your RO water.
JamesHe
Something in your tank increases your TDS.
d0pey
Do small water changes slowly to lower the TDS. Slowly!! Otherwise you will shock the shrimps. How are you remineralizing your water?
DETAquarium
One of two ways, either start off with RODI water and remineralize it, or as stated above do some small water changes with RODI water not remineralized over a period of time. I use all RO water. How in the heck does a person lower TDS? Don't lower your TDS. The saying of shrimp lives better in lower TDS is a myth. Some of my tanks, which contain highly sensitive shrimps, are at 400 TDS (they are high fertiliser dosing tanks) and the shrimps are happily living and breeding inside. If you try to adjust the TDS, you will end up killing your shrimp. nicpapa and sewoeno
Soothing Shrimp
Waste, powdered products, foods, etc all play a part in raising TDS. For more sensitive shrimp it's safe to not lower more than 40-50 TDS in a day. Pure RO wc works.
monty703
I started using TD Bio-culture SMW (5ml in a 2 gallon bucket) in each water change (usually about 1 gallon) in each of my tanks. Is this too much?
Lyana
200 is not that high, if your shrimp are thriving I wouldn't mess with it.
