stonedaquarium
hi guys, would like to solicit again for some advice as i recently have been having some weird deaths.... water parameters are : ph 6.5 TDS 300 GH 8 KH 0 NH3/NH4 0 NO2 0 and im also keeping neos... i have been having some unknown deaths .... they all seem to die like after they molted... i dunno what could have caused it but the dead ones feel really soft like no exoskeleton.... i dunno if i have been over feeding them with too much protein that they molted too soon and got stressed out... but i feed them every other day... just one wafer or stick for about 60 neos.... just want to figure out what could the possible causes be.... as my parameters seem to be fine... or is my GH too high for neos? chibikaie
What's NO3- (nitrate)?
DETAquarium
I feel your water parameters are "Ok" for Neos. When I used to keep and breed Neos, my TDS was closer to 200-250(max), GH 5/6, KH 0/1, PH 6.8-7.2. A few other questions I would like to know is what are you feeding your shrimp, and what supplements are you using? Are you using RODI, or tap water? Cabornate... for food i feed azoo max breed and shirakura wafers... for supplements i have mineral balls inside the tank... i also feed borneo wild shield 2x a week... and i dose one spoon mosura old sea mud and mosura rich water after each water change ( done once every two weeks)... i supplement with gravidas once a month. Soothing Shrimp
mosura rich water may be driving your ph down (?) Not unusual to have deaths in 6.5ph for neos in my experience.
stonedaquarium
and i thought neos do better in ph 6.5.... soothing what do you think is the ideal ph for neos ?
Soothing Shrimp
7+ for neos. Cards do well in softer water.
