Jadenlea
Poopians, the canister filter and sponge filter are running because I dont want to lose the bacteria I got from cycling the first attempt. There are a bunch of snails in there but nothing else.

OMG Aquatics
Poopians, the canister filter and sponge filter are running because I dont want to lose the bacteria I got from cycling the first attempt. There are a bunch of snails in there but nothing else. Looks like it's time to order a different substrate and tear it down once again

Jadenlea
Btw decided to wait till after xmas to redo this tank for a third time. This is my busiest season. Im a pet groomer with a full time job and then my own house call pet grooming biz after work so from here to new years I will be out straight. In the meantime Ill let it run and see if the ph changes and try messing with some peat. I know that Shrimpy Daddy only uses inert substrates even in his TB tanks. After new years if I cant get a stable low ph tank, Amazonia it will be. Maybe Ill put it on my xmas list

Jadenlea
OMG possible success!!!! I have half a box of peat in the filter and a couple bags of peat floating in the tank. It didnt seem to be helping but finally after over a week my PH has finally dropped to be good for TB and mischlings that I have been wanting since I set the tank up in september. Im going to give it a couple days to make sure the tank stays at the low ph and order! This is great news for me and bad news for the Beta who has been living there keeping it cycled with some snails. I wonder where he will go He is gorgeous too. Big huge lavendar and cream fins. Wygglz
Congratulations! Sounds like you'll need to set up a betta tank. The kids love the one I keep in my office, but I have to admit my co-workers have raised their eyebrows more than once when they hear me wishing him good morning. Soothing Shrimp
Monitor the ph closely. I've read more than one post about how hard it is to control ph that way.
