houdini56
This is my first time using a sponge filter which I just put into a 5-gallon tank I'm cycling. It's a good sized filter (though sold as a mini), and I don't mind that because I know the shrimp will love the extra area to graze on and I like good filtration - but boy, it's producing some major noisy bubbles and water action! I just have a very small pump for it so I was pretty surprised. The only tip I could find was adding some gravel to the outer tube, but I did that and it really didn't make much of a difference. Maybe I need some kind of a flow adjuster for my air pump? I've seen pumps that have them included, but this one didn't. Any other DIY suggestions are very welcome! Thanks much. jem_xxiii
Not so much a DIY but i would suggest getting a needle valve or air flow adjustor of some sort
Soothing Shrimp
Yep. You can also raise the tube above the surface. As long as water pours out with the bubbles, you are still good. gillznglass
