ShrimplyDez
Okay, so I went to the LFS today to test my (TAP) water parameters before I buy anything to start my first shrimp tank. I am going to have yellow neos. I don't have the tank or anything yet. The parameters were: PH: 6.2 GH: 0 KH: around 75 She said the only thing to get rid of was the Chlorine. So what should I do from here? Do I need an RO/DI machine? Do I need a certain substrate? The PH is already super low! I’m not sure what to do now that I have these parameters. Help! Pokeshrimp
With PH that low you're better off with those yellow cardinas.

ShrimplyDez
Tap water can have a 0 gh? I thought it was weird, too!
Jadenlea
Did the pet store just use the test strips? If so don't go with those results. Order a ph and gh/kh test kit. You will also need a master test kit to cycle your new tank
ShrimplyDez
Yeah, they did use the strip. I guess I'll go buy a kit and test it that way first. Thanks!

ShrimplyDez
I'm wondering if the kh 75 is 4-5 dkh... Okay . . . so I just looked up the Petsmart test strip and chart to see what it looked like and realized that it was the GH that was 75 and KH was 0.
