Soothing Shrimp
I just opened a fresh bottle of purigen. This is my first experience with it. Is it supposed to be wet?
PlantDude
It should look/seem damp, but never actually wet. Wet purigen is very sticky on whatever it comes in contact with. Do you have a picture of what yours looks like? Soothing Shrimp and colorfan

Soothing Shrimp
The crater there is made with my thumb. Nothing stuck to my thumb though. PlantDude

sarah
Agreed. It should be slightly moist. And if you ever take it out, keep it in something sealed so it can't dry out or else it loses some of its effectiveness. DETAquarium
I agree it should be damp, but mine usually is fluffy and very white. Maybe just the camera shot:), but was the cap or paper under the cap cracked, damaged, etc? Soothing Shrimp
Soothing Shrimp
No. It was sealed tightly.
Vpier
Your fine sooth. There might have been some impurities in the water they used for packaging, there might have been impurities in the air and was absorbed by the moisture in the purigen. I've been using purigen for 20 years and have seen the off white color many times. I have noticed purigen will have more of the off white color in bulk quantities than in individual packages .
