Moonwasaloon
Good Afternoon Everyone, After your shrimp tank is finished, how long do you want before adding the shrimp. I read online that people age the tank, so the shrimp have bioflim to feed on. Is this 100% necessary? I do plan on adding marimo moss ball, which i would assume would have the bioflim on for the shrimp to eat?
Soothing Shrimp
If you have seeded media, you can do it almost immediately, but not really recommended. The biggest thing in shrimping is patience. sarah, Wygglz and OMG Aquatics
sarah
If you are starting from scratch and spending a few weeks cycling, usually by the time your tank is cycled properly there should be plenty biofilm all over everything.
OMG Aquatics
If you're worried about biofilm, you can always get Bacter AE and will last really long depending on how many tanks you have.
Moonwasaloon
Thanks, I never heard of Bacter AE, and something I will really consider using. I'm guessing biofilm is more for babies to feed on?
Pokeshrimp
All the shrimps feed on it. A small sample of bacter ae has lasted me months.
