atteb
Wanting to know if most of you shrimp keepers and breeders prefer a tank with carpet plants or without?
Pokeshrimp
I think a real nice carpet would require co2 and ferts. So of you're goal was to breed a ton of shrimp then i would advise against it. But if you just want to keep shrimp to accent your nice aquascaped tank it'll work. svetilda
atteb
That is what I was wondering as I like to see the shrimp and thought the carpet might be in the way plus I like lots of shrimp so just plants is what I will keep
Fishprinceofca
I have a dwarf hairgrass carpet for my 20-gallon long OEBT and Bloody Mary tank. Though they're not as visible, I feel they like the extra cover, the babies especially.
Jynn
I've got a "show" tank of CRS that is fully carpeted in baby tears. No Co2, but I dose excel. For my breeding tanks, I try to keep them minimal... mostly moss on wood and other things I can easily move out of the way or remove if i need to try and catch a specific shrimp. Its a HUGE pain in the ass to catch the shrimp in the heavily planted, carpeted tank without screwing everything up. svetilda, PlantDude and Cappie49
jem_xxiii
I have a tank that has loads of plants in it and can attest to the pain it is to catch the shrimp. Cappie49
DETAquarium
I have done both, and I would have to say I actually prefer my shrimp tanks to be without carpets. One a carpet distracts from the shrimp themselves. Two it does make it quite difficult to see your shrimplets and/or shrimp if you are selectively breeding, or really just wanting to see your shrimp all the time. All depends what you want, and what your goals are.
atteb
I think I will skip it as I really want to see the shrimp, stick with just plants instead but not heavily planted. Thanks all for the opinions. jem_xxiii
