rawprawn
Seriously considering one of these for my new tank, currently cycling. http://aquakitz.com/2016/01/15/chihiros-doctor-ver-2/ Certainly mixed reviews, and I wouldn't pay as much as the Twinstar unit costs, but at a hundred bucks I'd possibly go for one of these. Interestingly, while the advertising talks up all advantages for shrimp including increased shrimplet survival, a couple of sellers have told me they're only for planted tanks. Another question would be that when it's removing algae is it removing biofilm, and if so do I need to feed special food to the shrimplets. I'm really looking for someone who's actually used these, not just opinions. Has anyone actually used these in a shrimp tank and noticed effects, either good or bad? I've searched and read a couple of threads on here, not really much info there on these yet. Thank you
Soothing Shrimp
Twinstar has been talked about off and on here. Type in twinstar in the search above, and many links come up. Probably 2 or 3 threads.
Vpier
I ran one in two different tanks and saw no benefits. You need aeration, almost suffocated my fish. Spend the money on a new filter and extra purigen. Soothing Shrimp and EricM

Vpier
Just now, bostoneric said: same here and feel exactly the same way. It could be just me but it seemed to make my water look a little less clear, it wasn't cloudy but not crystal clear. Once I stopped my water was crystal clear again. rawprawn
So these are one big old load of BS?? If so, these guys are seriously bold with their claims!
Soothing Shrimp
Thing is, with most aquarium stuff companies can claim just about anything they want. No one really checks on them. Pokeshrimp and Vpier
jem_xxiii
Snake oil! Snake oil! Like Soothing stated above, for all we know most of the products we use in our tanks may be doing the same, nothing. Vpier and Soothing Shrimp
