Soothing Shrimp
Ever had life just throw you for a loop? No matter how well I planned this month, life laughed at me. Key actors dropped from my web series, so we have to hold auditions again, kids teeth emergencies, spontaneous meetings called after school when we have only one car, meds needed again, etc. Ugh! Just needed to vent some. Heh Ianhamm
PlantDude
Tell me about it! Life is amazing and full of highs and lows, especially with kids and other responsibilities. Hang in there and I'm sure it'll better for you What is your web series about?

Vpier
April of 2015 I was getting ready to get into shrimping and join this forum. On a Saturday afternoon in April I get this terrible pain on my right side right under my last rib. It was the worst pain ever. Went to urgent care and they did an ultra sound. I had 1 3/4 inch stone in my gall bladder. April 29th early morning I go into surgery and have my bladder removed. Was sent home later that afternoon and doctor said I would be good enough to work that following Tuesday. Next day on the 30th while I was recovering my bile duct ruptured and started spewing poisonous bile into my body cavity. It felt like I got shot and was being stabbed to death, that became the worst pain ever. Now its 911 and I'm dying. The ambulance gets to my house in 6 minutes and its a 28 mile trip to the hospital. I'm starting to go into shock and my BP went to 216/146 and I start going into cardiac arrest. The EMT stopped it but BP is still high and cant get it below 213/140 and now they are afraid I'm going to have a stroke. Get to the hospital, they don't know at this time what is wrong but suspect complications from surgery. Did MRI and can see the bile leaking and its poisoning me and burning my insides. While waiting for the specialist and his team ,once again BP goes to 217/144 and I start going into cardiac arrest. ER DR stopped it and I went into surgery. This surgery is done through the mouth into the stomach and the small intestines with scopes and long instruments, I thinks its called an endoscopy or something like that. Lucky for me I have to be awake for this procedure so I can follow directions. So I'm awake with a bunch of tools going down my throat and I'm gagging, puking and choking the whole time. This takes an hour and fifteen minutes. That night I'm getting worse and I have a real bad infection and 104 temp. The pain is getting so bad that the strongest IV pain killers are not working. 2am I'm whisked back into MRI and they see that the repair did not work and bile still leaking into me. 330am Im back into surgery and as you can guess, same procedure and I have to be awake again. So I went from a very simple procedure and 3-4 week full recovery time to 9-12 months recovery. I couldn't eat anything with fat in it or I would get sick, starved the whole summer and lost almost 50lbs. The only thing I could eat for 4 months was imitation crab, white rice, non-fat yogurt and low fat beef jerky. Imitation crab makes me want to puke now. During the summer I had to have that down the throat procedure one more time to remove the stint and I had to be awake, was supposed be a 10-15 min procedure but the doctor said "Since we have the time and we are down there, might as well check everything out" so he checked my entire GI, so that took 35min of gagging and choking. So that delayed my shrimping for four months, yeah life got in the way. PlantDude, Soothing Shrimp and Wygglz

As I'm typing this Im laughing a little because Im trying to decide if this or almost dying from West Nile Meningitus seven years was the worst. The West Nile caused such severe brain swelling that it took me almost 5 months to learn how to write again. I used to be a very articulate writer and this is why my posts have a lot of gramatical errors and are poorly written. oem
It was difficult for me when I had to have emergency surgery to remove my right eye, But NOTHING compared to what you went thru. Like the missing Dog with one eye, three legs, missing tail, and recently neutered. Goes by the name of Lucky. I vote that name for your nick name. oem
Like you we adapt to a change in lifestyle. Resilient species us humans. Kids at school think it's funny to send a football or frisbee to Mr. H and see what part of my body catches it. (usually forehead) On a good note my reflexes are better due to flying objects. I also try to stay off roofs as I can't always tell how close to the edge I am. But was on the widow lady's roof when water was coming in on a snow melt. Only 13' drop. You still are the winner!
