sarah
Hi all. Does anyone have a tip for how to get my double sponge filter suction cup to stay stuck on my tank wall? It worked for ages, then it started unsticking repeatedly... so I bought a whole new filter just to use its suction cup to replace my old one. Worked for one hour, now it's unstuck again. What am I doing wrong??
jem_xxiii
Do you have a lot of algae on the glass where you are trying to stick the suction cup onto? sarah
sarah
Good thought. It's possible that there is more than I realize. The back wall is painted black, so it's hard to tell. I'll try an algae scrubber! Thanks!
zodiac
a plain razor blade works great. wash the cup in the tank. i've had that problem also. sarah
sarah
I cleaned the glass well, and this seems to have fixed it. Thank you both. How silly of me not to have thought of this myself!
Soothing Shrimp
Yeah, sometimes biofilm will be too slippery. I have to admit though, one of the best solutions I've read here is to silicone a small piece of tile to the bottom, and it will hold it down. Then you don't have to worry about suction cups at all. sarah and svetilda
