Ah, no no I was just asking about various soils or other methods to buffer KH without raising pH high, I apologize for the confusion. I'm using simple Petco black sand (majority top layer), fluorite gravel & calcium bentonite clay mixed together as my substrate. The calcium bentonite does raise my TDS & GH, but I made sure to use it sparingly to avoid excessive amounts of minerals in the water column.
