ShrimpBoy
Hello I'm new to the forum and have been looking around for some shrimp to get started with breeding. I've kept Crystal Reds (which did well) and have just sold them so that I can start with a new strand since I'm limited on tank space. I wanted to go with a nice Blue Bolt. Anyone have some for sale? ohmiko

ShrimpBoy
Just now, ohmiko said: Greenpepper or plamski message one! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Ok thanks. I was also wondering what grade I should start with and how exactly are the Blue Bolts graded? I've tried finding the info but it seems a little sketchy and like there are different ways? ohmiko
ohmiko
Ok thanks. I was also wondering what grade I should start with and how exactly are the Blue Bolts graded? I've tried finding the info but it seems a little sketchy and like there are different ways?Blue bolts are graded by the intensity of their blue. Regular blue bolts are usually light blue. There's S+ grade where the head and some body is very blue. Extremes is when all of it is a nice indigo. Culls are usually reaaaally light blue or almost white. Actually I think miniminx3 or something I forgot his URL has s grade for cheap! Hopefully he sees this. I'll try to tag him when I get homeSent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
ohmiko
It's like 7.50 I think? Which is usually the price of regular :-)Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

So how long does it take to breed a regular Blue Bolt grade to a high grade? I was wanting to start with a higher grade if it takes a long time. ohmiko
ohmiko
They're the same kind of shrimp regardless of grade so it takes the same amount of time if u buy it juvi you gotta wait till it reaches sexual maturity but I'm sure there's places u can buy as adults ? Just got to ask breeders Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I'm still new to this even with the research I've done. ohmiko

Basically if u have a high grade with a high grade, chances are you'll get most high grade off spring. Starting low grade you'll prob get mostly low grade and once in a while you'll get a high grade. And from there on. You can selective breed and cull!Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk ShrimpBoy and avonsurfernc
ShrimpBoy
Thank you. That makes sense to me. That must be where the culling comes in of the poor ones. So I will need to find someone selling some regular grade Blue Bolts then. You mentioned greenpepper, plamski, and the other guy. Should I PM them for prices? ohmiko
